Serial ‘butt sniffer’ jailed after crouching behind girls to odor their bums

Calese Crowder, 39, has been caged for 170 days after trying to smell women’s bums in shops – with a judge imposing a bizarre parole rule

The man dubbed “butt sniffer” after crouching behind women in shops to try and smell their bums has been jailed again.

Calese Crowder, 39 was sentenced on Tuesday (September 8) to 170 days in county jail after his latest arrest in Glendale, Southern California, US – with the judge ordering him to stay at least six feet away from people’s bums.

Glendale Police told NBC4 Investigates that Crowder was most recently arrested in August after stores reported a man acting suspiciously and bending down around shoppers.

Officers tracked him down a short time later in the 100 block of South Brand Boulevard and arrested him. At his court appearance on Tuesday, Crowder was sentenced to 170 days for a parole violation connected to the Glendale arrest.

In an unusually specific condition highlighted in court, the judge said Crowder had violated a special parole rule that he “shall not come within 6 feet of people’s butts”.

The court also ordered him to stay 100 yards away from the stores linked to his alleged offending – including Big Sav, Marshalls and HomeGoods locations in Glendale. The case has a long and disturbing history.

Crowder was arrested twice in the space of a month last year for harassing women in California, the Daily Star previously reported. And back in 2021, the perv was filmed crouching down behind a woman and apparently sniffing her rear in a disturbing clip which went viral.

He claimed he was “tying his shoe” before he was seen carrying out a similar act on another woman in the book shop. Earlier this month, Glendale police were called to an incident involving a suspicious man allegedly trying to sniff customers in a grocery store on Glenoaks Boulevard.

There were also calls from a nearby clothing shop following similar reports. Following a review of surveillance footage, police identified Crowder as a suspect and he was subsequently arrested for allegedly breaching his parole conditions.

Last month, Crowder was charged with a felony and held without bail after his alleged creepy behaviour at a Walgreens pharmacy in Burbank, California. Employees at the time called the police after witnessing the alleged lewd conduct.

In July this year, Crowder was also taken into custody, after there were reports of a suspicious person at Burbank Nordstrom Rack loitering near the women’s department.
