The famous zoo quickly changed the wording as they attempted to promote a family-friendly tour of the animal park.
Brits buying tickets on the booking page were sent a link to a “child predator tour tickets’ – which sounded a lot more grim than the real experience.
The embarrassing error has since been corrected for the ‘very unique guided tour’, which costs £30 per adult and £25 per child, and offers animal lovers the chance to explore the zoo without the crowds and hop on an electric tour bus.
Those who want to partake in the 90-minute tour are introduced to some of the zoo’s ‘most iconic animals‘, including Sumatran tigers and Komodo dragons, with the experience available to children aged four and over.
They made the change after it was pointed out to them that the listed ticket was initially being sold as a ‘Child Predator Tour’ ticket.
But the change did not happen before eagle-eyed fans shared the faux pas on social media sites such as X and Reddit. One wrote: “How on earth has that made it past everyone checking?” while another labelled it “staggering”.
Another added: “Tell me a page wasn’t proofread without telling me. How awkward.”
Chester Zoo has since changed the wording. The term ‘predator’ has since been removed, and they are now simply described as ‘Child Tour’ tickets.
Another person quipped: “‘So we’re all agreed it’ll be the Child Predator Tour?’ Marketing team: Absolutely,” while another chimed in: “Really, nobody on the entire staff read this and thought, ‘Hang on a minute?'”
