Major excessive road chain shutting 17 branches as big clearance gross sales launch
Another major UK high street chain is closing 17 stores forever, launching clearance sales while adding to a growing wave of nationwide retail closures

Shoppers face another high street blow as a major shoe retailer prepares to pull the plug on 17 locations across the UK. The widespread closures come after private equity bosses Modella Capital, who own Wynsors World of Shoes, raised the alarm earlier this summer over soaring rents and potential job losses.
Bargain hunters have already spotted closing-down sales launching at several branches, with the full list of hit locations revealed below.
While exact shutdown dates remain under wraps, a company spokesperson previously told The Sun: “It’s with sadness that we announce that certain Wynsors stores will be closing their doors.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our customers who have shopped with us and supported the store over the years. Your support has meant so much to the whole team.”
The closures will be another blow to the UK high street, reports ChronicleLive. In July, it was revealed that around 150 TG Jones stores across the country could close.
The retailer, formerly known as WH Smith, secured court approval for a major restructuring, which was expected to lead to the closures.

Meanwhile, a number of British Heart Foundation shops are also due to close, the charity confirmed.
The plan was to shut some stores by the end of March 2027, and the remainder by March 2028.
And in August, bookmakers and gaming company Betfred revealed it was planning to shut 132 shops and cut more than 600 jobs from September.
The gambling firm blamed higher taxes hitting the industry and economic uncertainty for the decision. More than a tenth of its betting shops are expected to be affected.
A consultation over the closures was launched. There was no mention of which branches were to go but the closures are expected to leave Betfred with around 1,100 remaining shops UK-wide.
