A UK bakery supplier has collapsed into liquidation after a decade of trading. Midland Bakeries Limited had liquidators appointed on September 10. The Walsall-based firm specialised in ‘providing premium bulk baked goods to businesses across the foodservice, retail, and catering industries’.

Its website boasted it had ‘years of expertise’ and ‘we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality cookies, sandwiches, and pastries tailored to meet the needs of our clients’.

But after just over 10 years of operation, Craig Povey and Gareth Prince, both of BTG Begbies Traynor, have been brought in as liquidators, reports the Mirror.

The firm was established on January 16, 2016, according to Companies House records. It supplied bulk bakery requirements for cafés, hotels and corporate clients.

According to the most recent filings on Companies House, the business owed sums totalling £114,698 due within one year up to the end of January 2025. The appointment of a liquidator means an authorised insolvency practitioner assumes complete control of a company to wind up its operations, dispose of its assets and shut down the business.
