Morgan Gibbs-White’s partner seems to have fired a veiled shot at Thomas Tuchel after the Nottingham Forest star was overlooked for his latest England squad. Gibbs-White is one of several high-profile players that the German manager has left out of his team for the upcoming Nations League matches.

Justifying his decision, Tuchel stated: “It makes no sense to nominate three, four, five number 10s. It just does not help anyone. We can see the form that Morgan [Gibbs-White] is in.

“It’s one thing to be nominated, but it’s another thing to perform. This also counts, especially Cole needs to step up to justify the nomination.”

However, in what appears to be a retort aimed at Tuchel’s choice, Britney De Villiers took to Instagram to post a photo highlighting the fact that Gibbs-White is the only player in the Premier League so far this season who has created 5 plus chances in every match he has played.

This latest snub for Gibbs-White follows his controversial exclusion from England’s World Cup squad over the summer.

Gibbs-White was reportedly on the German’s extensive list. However, despite his standout performances for Forest towards the end of last season, the attacking midfielder didn’t make the cut for Tuchel’s final 27-man squad.

Recounting his conversation with Tuchel to TalkSPORT back in May, Gibbs-White shared what the manager told him when he found out he hadn’t made the US trip. He said: “I got the call on the Thursday like everyone else did, (to know) whether they were going or not.

“A good, honest conversation. He just said, ‘I’ve got people ahead of you right now. It’s nothing to do with you, you’ve done everything that you could possibly do. I’ve really enjoyed watching you the past six months, just unfortunately the way it is’.

“I respect him as a manager, I think he’s a top, top manager and I really hope the boys go on to do something incredible this summer because they truly deserve it. They truly deserve it.

“He’s a top guy and I appreciated the call, he didn’t have to call me to tell me I wasn’t in the squad, so I appreciate that.

“But for me personally, it’s obviously difficult, it’s so difficult because you try and put yourself in the best possible situation to go, and I believe I did. But, I think the game’s all about opinions. I mean, you guys on the show, it’s all opinions.

“Some are wrong, some are good, some are bad, and I’ve been on a lot of people’s wrong opinions in my career so far, and I’ve always got over those hurdles and bounced back from them. So, this is just another hurdle, another thing to bounce back from.”
