BREAKING Python on the free in UK metropolis as ‘gridlock’ reported after 999 crews block highway

A python is currently on the loose in a UK city after it wrapped itself around a tree branch, with “gridlock” now reported in the area as result of the emergency response.
“Gridlock” has been reported on Plymouth Hoe this evening after firefighters confirmed they are trying to catch the snake. Cars are reportedly turning around on Hoe Road with fire engines blocking the road, reports Plymouth Live.
It’s not clear who the snake belongs to or how it got there. A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “We got a call at 5.10pm, to the public toilets at West Hoe Park on Hoe Road. We have a fire engine and an aerial ladder platform at the scene.

“It’s believed a carpet Python is coiled around a branch up high. A vet is unable to retrieve it and the police requested the help of the fire service with a ladder to get the Python down.
“Fire crews are working with the police to retrieve the snake from a tree approximately 3m high. The road was closed while crews dealt with the incident. The animal is still loose.”
