Piers Morgan says Royals ‘spitting blood’ as he calls for Earl Spencer’s e book is pulped

Piers Morgan claims the Royal Family is furious over Earl Spencer’s tell-all memoir about Diana and has called for all copies of the book to be destroyed

Piers Morgan has claimed the Royal Family are “spitting blood” over explosive allegations in Earl Spencer’s new book about Princess Diana.

The fiery broadcaster has unleashed his lawyers on Diana’s brother after spotting “complete lies” in the controversial text, insisting that every single printed copy must be destroyed.

It comes after the Earl admitted wrongly accusing former tabloid boss Piers of running invasive leotard snaps of the late Princess of Wales back in 1993.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, a furious Piers hit out at the aristocrat’s attempts to “attack and diminish” King Charles, questioning whether any of the bombshell claims about the monarch can be trusted.

The Earl’s memoir contains allegations that Charles was “elated” after Diana’s tragic death and hissed “we’ll forget her soon enough” during a row.

Piers said: “It’s a fascinating situation because he’s now admitted publicly that what he wrote about me in the book is untrue. I was nowhere near the place when they did this and it was a huge, huge story at the time.

“This is not a trifling mistake he’s made, he’s directly accused me of committing the most egregious invasion of royal privacy in history. Our position is quite straightforward, every copy of the book that’s sold with that lie in it is damaging.

“I know for an absolute fact that the Royal Family are spitting blood and they are furious about this, and they are furious about the attempt to destroy King Charles’ reputation. He’s telling an untruth to attack and diminish our king and I think its reprehensible.”

However, a defiant Earl Spencer appeared on Lorraine today and insisted the drama hasn’t phased him one bit.

When quizzed on the explosive reaction, he shrugged off the backlash, saying: “It hasn’t rattled me at all”.

He added: “There’s been all these headlines about criticisms I’m said to have made. This is a celebration from a brother’s point of view.

“As a brother I have every right to write about my sister and I can tell you what Diana would’ve liked – it’s 350 pages of compliments, and she loved a compliment.”

Addressing Piers’ legal threats directly, the Earl admitted to the mix-up but refused to back down on the rest of his writing.

He said: “Unlike some journalists that we know of, I’m very happy to acknowledge that I made a small error and I’ve apologised and it will be put right in the second edition – but that’s it. When asked if he had made any other errors, he replied: “I stand by the book”.

Addressing claims he targeted the monarch, the Earl said: “I would like to explain that, I wasn’t setting out to do a hit piece on the King at all. The bits that have been included in the book are totally in context.”

He went on to claim the final line of his iconic funeral eulogy, promising Diana’s memory would never be “extinguished”, was a direct reaction to Charles allegedly remarking “she’ll be forgotten soon enough.”

The Earl also poured cold water on claims Prince Harry helped compile the book, confirming the Duke of Sussex knew nothing about it before publication.

Buckingham Palace issued a stern response to the book last week, claiming that “fraternal grief” had clouded the Earl’s memory.

Branding Palace officials’ reaction as “classic gaslighting”, Spencer doubled down, saying: “No one said the King didn’t say that, because he did.”
