With the weather starting to get cooler, lots of us are beginning to think about how we’ll keep our homes warm amid the energy price hikes on the horizon. Instead of turning on the heating and warming the whole house, heating just the room being used can be a smart way of saving energy.
A mini heater, like this Dreo Electric Space Heater that shoppers say “really packs a punch”, could be just the thing. Featuring a three – 35 degrees thermostat and LED display, it’s easy to customise the temperature.
The heater can also be set to oscillate, spreading heat throughout the room more easily, and has a one to 12-hour timer for ease of use. It has four modes to choose from – high, low, eco, and fan, with the eco mode adjusting its power based on the room temperature, warming up the room as needed.

For those with a larger budget, the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool HP00 Purifying fan heater is available for £379.99, down from £449.99 at Argos. According to Dyson, the specialist technology projects over 200 litres of air per second delivering smooth, yet powerful airflow.

Alternatively, for shoppers looking for something a little more stylish, Dunelm’s Chiminea Style Flame Effect Stove, that’s available for £100, could do the trick. The mock flame-effect design could be the ideal way to bring a little added cosiness into the home.
Meanwhile, the Dreo Electric Space Heater, has proved popular with shoppers, garnering a rating of 4.5 from 5,392 shopper reviews. One person said: “A lovely little heater that really packs a punch. I have a fairly large bedroom and use it to take the chill off at night and in the morning and it does a really good job.
“It has a 500w, 1000w and 2000w heat settings depending on how quickly you want to heat a room up. I usually use 500w setting with rotate function to save energy, I put it on and leave the room and when I return around 20 minutes later it’s nice and cosy so certainly worth the investment and purchase.”
A second added: “Compact and perfect for heating areas in a short space of time!” Meanwhile, a third person said: “I bought this after our boiler broke last year as a backup in case it broke down again. For such a small unit it certainly belts out a lot of heat. I like the fact that you can have it oscillating or static.
“You can adjust the temperature to whatever you like and there is a timer so you can set it without worrying about forgetting to switch it off. There’s also a safety switch on the base so if you knock it over, then it automatically cuts out. An excellent little heater indeed.”
But not everyone was as impressed. One less satisfied shopper said: “Initially very impressed with this compact heater, quality and ease of working however it was too small for the area I needed to heat, I did think about keeping it and using it as a on or under desk heater but decided to return the item. The quality was lovely and easy to operate.”
Yet someone else praised: “Love this product, got us through the cold winter.” Another shopper added: “Better than expected. Heats up a large room pretty quickly.”
