Morgan Gibbs-White’s fiance has another reason to be annoyed at Thomas Tuchel after her bow was eventually called into the England squad.
The Nottingham Forest playmaker was initially left out of the Three Lions’ party for the quartet of Nations League games, prompting his partner, Britney De Villiers, to take a thinly veiled swipe at the German coach.
The South African influencer took to Instagram to post an image highlighting that Gibbs-White is the only Premier League player this season to have created five or more chances in every match he has played.

Justifying his decision to omit Gibbs-White, Tuchel said: “It makes no sense to nominate three, four, five number 10s. It just does not help anyone. We can see the form that Morgan is in.
“It’s one thing to be nominated, but it’s another thing to perform. This also counts, especially Cole [Palmer] needs to step up to justify the nomination.”
There was an upside to the snub, though, as it allowed Gibbs-White to go on a family holiday with De Villiers and their children – for the grand total of two hours! No sooner had Gibbs-White arrived in Dubai than he received a late call-up following a flurry of withdrawals.
De Villiers made light of the situation by posting a TikTok video of her partner exiting their hotel room with his suitcase, captioned: “When he gets a last-minute England call-up two hours into the family holiday.”
The light-hearted clip included her and Gibbs-White miming the words to the song ‘Gotta Go My Own Way’ from High School Musical 2. The clip has racked up more than 3million views. Some fans joked that if Tuchel saw the video, he would send him straight back on holiday.
The 26-year-old joined up with the squad on Tuesday, ending a 12-month hiatus from the England camp. Gibbs-White, who has been in fine form for Forest, joined James Garner in getting a late call-up following the withdrawals of Palmer, Declan Rice, Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo and Tino Livramento.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is back in the squad while teenager Rio Ngumoha and Alex Scott are involved again, having caught the eye during the pre-World Cup training camp in Florida.
Jarrad Branthwaite is with the national team for the first time under Tuchel, who handed recalls to Lewis Hall, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
England play their first match since the World Cup against reigning world and European champions Spain in Saturday’s Nations League opener at a sold-out Wembley. Tuchel’s men then travel to Czechia and Croatia, before welcoming the former to Wembley at the end of the new three-week autumn international window.
