Liverpool information: ‘Cut value’ switch presents Andoni Iraola resolution as Reds instructed ‘no excuses’

Liverpool’s earned a much needed three points heading into the first international break of the Andoni Iraola era – as the Reds bested Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.
However, the Reds’ stuttering start to the season has highlighted a huge problem with Iraola’s squad, but the latest transfer news suggests that he might have a solution in January. However, it isn’t just transfer news that has engulfed Anfield in the past 24 hours.
There has also been the death of former owner George Gillett after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He completed a takeover of Liverpool alongside Tom Hicks in March 2007 and would remain at the helm until its sale to John Henry’s New England Sports Ventures, which later became FSG, in October 2010.

Solution for problem position
The left-back spot continues to pose a problem for Liverpool following Andy Robertson’s exit. Milos Kerkez and Kostas Tsimikas are currently battling for the position, with neither particularly impressing, reports the Mirror.
It’s too soon to dismiss either player, but if Liverpool are compiling a list of targets ahead of January, the left side of defence is likely at the top. Crystal Palace, who have become a hunting ground for clubs higher up the Premier League pecking order, could offer the next solution.
Highly-regarded left-back Tyrick Mitchell, 27, whose contract expires next summer, is on Liverpool’s radar, TEAMtalk reports. To avoid losing him for free at the end of the season, Mitchell could be up for grabs at a cut price in January.

Dominik Szoboszlai insists Liverpool can’t hide behind the “transitional season” excuse and must vie for major trophies this season. While the Reds are in their first season under Iraola, Szoboszlai recognises that the club’s stature and recent spending mean patience is thin on the ground.
The Hungarian stated: “It’s enough to speak about that we need time. Obviously, last season things weren’t going well and we were saying that new players came in and a couple of players left and it didn’t work out. So we were saying we need time because of the transition. Now we will say that Mo [Salah] left, a legend and with all the respect. Robbo [Roberton] the same.
“Every year, something is going to happen. So, at one point we have to take the responsibility and stop making excuses, because we are Liverpool FC. We don’t have three years to renew everybody and start again. So I think it starts now and we are there again. It’s a long season.”
