An influencer who once dreamed of being a police officer and studied law at university has shared why she abandoned her initial career path to become an adult content creator.

Beth Bennett has dedicated the last 14 years of her life to working with Babestation after joining its apprentice scheme in 2012. As a young girl, Beth was so set on joining the police force that she would consistently sketch images of herself as a policewoman whenever teachers asked about her future career aspirations.

Now aged 39, Beth initially pursued law during her first year at university, before switching to study theatre and media, and later earning a postgraduate qualification in marketing management.

Upon relocating to the UK from New Zealand, Beth’s professional journey took an unexpected turn when she stumbled upon a Babestation recruitment advert while channel surfing late at night.

Beth applied to become a “Babe” and what she initially envisaged as a temporary two-year gig has evolved into a 13-year career engaging in x-rated conversations with callers.

She said: “When I was a little girl, I always dreamed of being a police officer. When we had to draw what we wanted to be when we grew up at primary school, I always drew police officers. My mum and dad kept the pictures at home.”

Unlike in the UK, teenagers in New Zealand aren’t required to commit to a single subject when they begin university at 18.

Beth, who was only 17 when she started university, said: “I didn’t really know what I wanted to do. In New Zealand, you don’t have to have everything decided in your first year.

“I took the papers that would allow me to continue into law, but I realised it definitely wasn’t my cup of tea. I had always done a lot of performing, so I ended up completing my Bachelor of Arts in theatre and media.

“After that, I did a postgraduate qualification in marketing management because my ideal job was to work in advertising.”

Beth started submitting applications for advertising placements following her graduation and made it to the final round of interviews for one position.

However, she found herself wondering whether the traditional graduate pathway was suited to her. She relocated to Britain on a two-year working visa where a late-evening discovery would entirely transform her professional life.

While channel-hopping one night, Beth came across Babestation and noticed a recruitment advert asking viewers whether they possessed what it took to become a “Babe”.

Beth enrolled in Babestation’s apprentice scheme in 2012 and originally anticipated the risqué position would be short-lived.

She said: “I started working at Babestation and thought I would do it for the two years I lived in the UK, because it was good money and I was enjoying it. I planned to look for some other kind of ‘normal’ job, but the end of those two years kept getting closer and closer.

“My mum was born in the UK, although she had lived in New Zealand since she was a child, so I realised I could get a British passport and stay. I kept thinking I could give Babestation a little bit longer.”

Thirteen years on, Beth continues to work with the platform, and she’s found that her degrees, which she initially believed would lead her down a traditional career path, have been surprisingly beneficial.

Currently, she’s a performer on Babestation, where she entertains viewers and interacts with callers during live broadcasts. Her role involves performing in front of the camera, promoting herself, and using her personality to establish connections with callers.

London-based Beth explained: “With Babestation, you need theatre, advertising and marketing skills.”

“I’ve always known I’m good at talking to people and engaging with them. It isn’t a conventional customer service role, but it does share some similarities.

“The callers have already chosen you because they find you attractive. They have come to you and they’re already interested – you just have to continue being good at it. You’re selling your personality as much as anything else.”

When Beth first joined Babestation, new performers were provided with guidance from an experienced phone sex coach.

She says she was taught how to build conversations with callers rather than diving straight into their fantasies. She said: “You learn as you go, and a lot of it is common sense.”

“You don’t dive straight into the dirty side because then the call would be over in a couple of minutes and you’d earn a lot less money.”
