Prince Harry and Meghan Markle see Palace ‘utterly ignore messages’

Charlotte Griffiths says Buckingham Palace contacts told her some messages from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s team are ignored. Separately, a source told Closer the couple keep records of royal communications for protection.

A royal expert has suggested that the majority of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s current emails are being snubbed by the Palace following their return to the UK.

Chatting to Peter Cardwell on his TalkTV programme, journalist Charlotte Griffiths weighed in on reports that Meghan was recording all her exchanges with her in-laws.

“This sounds familiar because when Meghan and Harry were part of the British royal family and living in the UK, there was this persistent rumour that Meghan was keeping a very detailed record of every single interaction, and that courtiers were absolutely terrified of this because they felt that she was using it as some sort of threat…So that would sound about right if she’s doing it again,” she said.

“But the only thing I’d say about this time is that the record would be very easy to keep because there isn’t a lot of interaction,” Griffiths added.

“We’re talking like the odd email exchange, the odd phone call here and there. Because I’ve spoken to the various people in the palace, and they are incredibly guarded.

“They said they receive more messages and emails and letters from Harry and Meghan than they respond to, and that sometimes they just completely ignore messages and emails from their team.

“They’re both being incredibly guarded with one another, both the Sussexes and Buckingham Palace.”

The Sussexes have reportedly been discreetly recording correspondence with members of the Firm, with a source suggesting they are doing so for their own “protection”, reports the Express.

This follows a string of public developments involving Harry and the Royal Family, including a row over lodging during his recent UK visit and a Palace statement clarifying that the Sussexes are no longer working members of the Royal Family.

A source alleged Harry and Meghan have “learned the hard way” that they must maintain a record of what is discussed and agreed upon by members of the Royal Family.

The insider told Closer: “Meghan and Harry don’t want to react to every problem, but they say they’ve learned the hard way that they need to keep a record of what’s being said and agreed to by people within The Firm, because the goal posts constantly change.”

The source alleged the Sussexes interact with numerous individuals within the King’s circle and suggested there can be contradictory directives from different members of staff.

The insider added: “There is so much going on behind the scenes. They’ve had some very tricky situations where one courtier has given them instructions, and another tells them to do the opposite, so they say they have no choice but to document everything the way they’re doing – it’s for their protection day-to-day.”
