William and Kate have delivered a powerful statement to Harry and Meghan through a ‘display of unity’ during their first joint public outing since the Sussexes’ return.
The Prince and Princess of Wales undertook their first shared engagement since the summer break to commemorate World Suicide Prevention Day at Everton’s home stadium in Liverpool.
Royal commentator Duncan Larcombe has observed that this visit drew considerable interest for several reasons, not least because Kate chose to accompany her husband on what had been anticipated as a solo assignment.

He suggested the engagement represented “the regal equivalent of flexing their combined muscles in a show of solidarity that sent a message to the Sussexes.”
Larcombe went on: “William and Kate clearly want to ensure they take centre stage as they brace for Harry and Meghan to make their next move.”
The royal commentator further stated that Kate was “throwing down the gauntlet to her brother- and sister-in-law” as the duo would have been intent on making a declaration.
Kate is also anticipated to accompany Prince William to Mumbai in November for The Earthshot Prize ceremony, marking the couple’s first official overseas engagement in four years.
Once again, the scheduling of this journey appears to form another element of the Windsors’ “strategy” to demonstrate their resolve to the Sussexes.
The couples, once dubbed the ‘fab four’, have been embroiled in a very public spat for several years, a situation that has only deteriorated since Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties and began making allegations against William and Kate in the press.
Now, with Harry and Meghan’s return to the UK, speculation is rife about a potential reunion, as it’s believed that Harry and William will inevitably find themselves in each other’s company.
These joint appearances by William and Kate are seen as a clear message to Harry and his wife ahead of their inevitable meeting, with Larcombe suggesting they are tackling “the challenge posed by Harry and Meghan head-on.”
