NFL takes over London with shock go to to the Zoo with unique show
The NFL is taking over London ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles vs Jacksonville Jaguars clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with free fan events at Trafalgar Square, mascot visits at London Zoo
Sixty Super Bowl rings, a five-metre American football and two rather peculiar guests at London Zoo – perhaps unexpected but all in the theme of the NFL. The Philadelphia Eagles are taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday in the second of three matches on UK soil, the NFL has lined up some attractions beyond the pitch.
Trafalgar Square will play host to the NFL Fan Experience on Friday and Saturday, giving supporters a flavour of the sport without needing to step inside a stadium. The Vince Lombardi Trophy will be on show, while there will also be chances to tackle kicking challenges, flag football exercises and even plunging into a foam pit to mark a touchdown.
Meanwhile, over at London Zoo, eagles and jaguars are staging a return.
The zoo, which no longer houses either species, has welcomed Eagles mascot SWOOP and Jaguars mascot Union Jaxson in the run-up to Sunday’s clash.
Former NFL defensive end Efe Obada, who was inducted into the NFL London Games Ring of Honour at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Sunday, appreciated the humour in it all.
“I spent my career chasing quarterbacks so going face-to-face with an eagle and jaguar feels like a fair challenge, and luckily these two are a lot friendlier,” Obada said.
“Days like this are what the London Games are all about – bringing families and young people closer to the game in places they’d never expect.”
The mascots will greet supporters at London Zoo on Friday between 2pm and 3.30pm
The Trafalgar Square festivities, meanwhile, run from 1pm to 7pm on Friday and midday to 7pm on Saturday. Admission is free, though sign-up via the NFL OnePass app is necessary.
Sunday’s clash marks the second of three NFL London encounters in 2026, with the Jaguars also making their return to Wembley Stadium on Oct. 18 to take on AFC South opponents the Houston Texans.
The 2-2 Eagles arrive following back-to-back losses to the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Rams, while the 3-1 Jaguars have secured successive victories against the New England Patriots and the Cincinnati Bengals.
