Arsenal are set to hijack Liverpool’s transfer

Arsenal bounced back from their Brighton defeat before the international break as they came from behind against Leeds United. However, it wasn’t the smooth sailing for the Gunners, who were second best at times.

And Mikel Arteta could already be ready to dip into the transfer market for a World Cup star who has also attracted interest from Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona. While the Gunners are also reportedly looking to finalise a triple deal.

And with all of that in mind, Daily Star Sport has looked at two of the most recent developments concerning the north London outfit.

Arsenal plot Liverpool hijack

Arsenal have allegedly submitted an initial offer for Liverpool target Gilberto Mora. The Mexican prodigy celebrates his 18th birthday this week, meaning the Gunners are permitted to snap him up come January, reports the Mirror.

Mora, who remains tied to Club Tijuana until 2029, had been linked with Premier League rivals Liverpool in recent weeks. But Mexican publication El Provenir claims Arsenal have made contact with his current club regarding a potential move.

Arsenal are long-standing admirers of the teenager, who caught the eye after becoming Mexico’s youngest ever player at the World Cup earlier this year. Mora is said to have a release clause of just £21.2million in his existing deal.

Arsenal are close to wrapping up new contract extensions for three key players, according to a report.

Having recently secured manager Arteta until the summer of 2030, Gunners bosses are now looking to follow that up with deals for midfield powerhouse Declan Rice, captain Martin Odegaard and defender Jurrien Timber.

It has been widely reported in recent weeks that Rice is on the brink of penning a bumper new deal that will take him close to Arsenal’s top earner, Bukayo Saka. Rice is currently on a reported £240,000-per-week deal, which expires in the summer of 2028.
