‘Aston Villa threatening to sue Jamie Carragher is tinpot and complete nonsense’
Aston Villa threatening legal action against Jamie Carragher is the silliest thing they’ve done since hiring Tim Sherwood.
All Carra did was point out the bleeding obvious – that Manchester United are a bigger club than Villa, and that Unai Emery would probably move to Old Trafford if offered the job – two claims as glaring as the fact that Alejandro Garnacho is completely useless.
Claiming to be “unacceptably insulted” just proves that everyone at Villa is unacceptably thin-skinned. Pundits say inflammatory things all the time. Why do Villa think their delicate little feelings should get special treatment?

Threatening to sue a pundit for a perfectly legitimate comment is total nonsense.
Mind you, their fragility shouldn’t come as any surprise given how quickly they excommunicated Jack Grealish after he had the audacity to leave for City in 2021.
Despite him being one of their own – a boyhood Villa fan who stuck by them in the Championship trenches – supporters turned on Grealish with all the unhinged foot-stamping petulance of Cristiano Ronaldo being subbed off without scoring.

Morgan Rogers wondergoal? Do me a favour!
Morgan Rogers’ solo goal against Manchester United at the weekend was bang average and I will happily die on this hill. Okay, ‘bang average’ is a stretch. But I am so sick of people losing their minds over goals where a player literally just runs in a straight line while the defenders are social distancing like it’s April 2020.
Sprinting 30 yards without having to dodge a single challenge doesn’t mean you’re Lionel Messi. You’re just a bloke running a bleep test.
Seriously, watch it back. Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez gave Rogers a wider berth than the one United are currently giving the top half of the table.
Son Heung-min vs Burnley, Hatem Ben Arfa vs Bolton – throw Morgan Rogers vs Man Utd onto the pile. All three goals are like Gareth Southgate: utterly bog-standard, but hailed as world-class by people incapable of actual analysis.
Mbappathetic
Last week, Kylian Mbappe issued a grovelling apology to China for the heinous crime of – get this – calling Chairman Mao a “dictator”.
This from the bloke who fancies himself as one of football’s great humanitarians, who sticks his nose into French elections with more enthusiasm than Piers Morgan shoving his into Cristiano Ronaldo’s backside.
Yet the second his Chinese corporate sponsors throw a hissy fit, he folds faster than Tottenham in a title race.
Calling Mao a dictator is like calling Florian Wirtz a waste of money – it’s an indisputable fact. Besides, if anything, it’s tamer than Man United’s back four.
If you only wheel out a conscience when it wins you cheap applause, then bin it the second it threatens your bank balance, you’re not some noble crusader, you’re just a virtue-signalling pillock.
