A woman who sneered that her husband “talks s***” and threatened to make him eat it followed through on her disgusting promise by smearing her own excrement into his mouth during a vile attack.

Alison Moore, 63, had subjected her husband, Mr Moore, to a series of violent assaults over a “lengthy period” before the shocking incident. Despite this, the couple left court together after her sentencing.

The attack happened during a heated argument on August 20, when Moore wrestled her husband onto their bed at the couple’s home in Damerham, in the New Forest, Southampton Crown Court heard. She told him he talked “so much s***” and was going to make him eat it, before rubbing her own faeces into his mouth.

Prosecutor Andrew Coley told the court that Mr Moore managed to break free from her grip before rushing to the bathroom to wash out his mouth. Before cleaning himself up, he took a photograph documenting what had happened, which was later shown in court.

Police were called to the property and arrested Moore, who declined to answer questions during her interview. She subsequently provided a written statement, which amounted to “bare denial”, Mr Coley said.

Her husband also described previous assaults, claiming Moore had struck him in the face while wearing a ring and hit him across the back with a broom handle. Photographs presented as evidence showed a cut above his eye, a separate minor injury and redness across his back.

The court heard that, three days after the incident involving the broom, the pair had spent an afternoon drinking at a pub before falling out over when they should leave. On their journey home, they stopped at a second pub, where Moore was turned away by bar staff.

She then accused her husband of failing to “stand up for her” and branded him “boring”. There had been an “ongoing bad feeling” between the pair before Moore launched what was described as a vile and “pre-meditated” attack on her husband.

Mr Moore provided a victim impact statement for the hearing but requested that it was not read aloud in court. He also maintained that he did not want a restraining order imposed. Judge Gary Lucie described his statement as “magnanimous”, given the offences committed against him, adding that the impact of his wife’s behaviour was “plain”.

Addressing Moore, he said: “The use of faeces was a gratuitous degradation of the victim. You’ve plainly had a difficult time over the last few years with the death of your parents and other personal circumstances – none of that excuses this behaviour. I see day in, day out, people who abuse alcohol and it is the root of their offending. You don’t seem to yet accept that is your case.”

Defence lawyer Rose Burns told the court that Moore “completely regrets” what she had done to her husband and had accepted “full blame”. However, she said her actions stemmed from “a perception of an imbalance in the relationship”. She said: “She accepts no amount of poor behaviour by Mr Moore could justify her actions towards him.”

Ms Burns added that a series of recent family bereavements had plunged Moore into a “very deep depression”, leaving her feeling “frustrated” with her life and causing her to take those feelings out on her husband. Moore was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 18 months.

Despite the ordeal, she left court alongside her husband, who had attended the hearing and sat through the proceedings. She is understood to be staying in an Airbnb in Dorset after spending three weeks on remand at HMP Bronzefield.

The court also heard about Moore’s previous convictions, which include driving with excess alcohol, assault by beating and using violence. Those offences were connected to her obsession with a builder in April 2022.

Moore was described as being “besotted” with the tradesman and had turned up at his home, where she attacked his partner on the doorstep, tearing out a clump of the woman’s hair during the assault. She denied those charges too, but was convicted and given a 12-month restraining order.
