Prem winner stop soccer aged 29 for ‘extra time with scorching spouse and topless stunts’
Andre Schurrle, who won the Premier League with Chelsea and the World Cup with Germany, retired from football at the age of 29 and has since thrown himself into extreme endurance challenges
A Premier League winner, who quit football aged 29, has spent his time away from the beautiful game with his jaw-dropping WAG while performing topless stunts. And he even admitted his “body was screaming” as he struggled over the finish line of the Last Soul Ultra.
Andre Schurrle, who turned 36on Friday, was a skillful winger for Chelsea not so long ago – bagging the Premier League title and lifting the World Cup with Germany during an illustrious playing career.
But since hanging up his boots at just 29 – initially believed to be so he could dedicate more time to his stunning model wife Anna Schurrle – he’s all about pushing his physical boundaries to the absolute limit.

The German was competing in a backyard ultra – an endurance event consisting of a 6.7km (4.71-mile) circuit on the hour, every hour, until just one participant remains standing. Everyone else records a DNF.
“I’m fascinated by how far you can go when your body is already screaming to stop,” he revealed following the event. “This very moment – when only your head is making the decision – is the core of the Last Soul Ultra. There are certain things that I see as challenges.
“I want to benefit from these difficult moments in my life. Of course, that also involves extremes. But if I’m honest, I don’t feel like I’ve arrived in extreme sports.”
It’s not the first occasion Schurrle has pushed himself to breaking point – back in 2023 he completed the Wim Hof method, which is considered one of the most grueling endurance tests on the planet.
The German, along with a group of fellow adventurers, scaled the Sniezka Mountains to reach Czechia’s highest point, standing at 1,603km above sea level. He shared on Instagram: “The last minutes I couldn’t feel anything and I had to find something deep inside me to keep going.
“An experience I will never forget! -19 degrees, 100 km/h wind in our faces, heavy snow and rain. What I learned… my body and I are stronger than I thought if I put my mind and soul into it I can do it all.”
And remarkably, he completed the feat topless. This wasn’t what he’d envisioned when he stepped away from professional football – he’d hoped to spend more quality time with his stunning model wife, Anna, formerly Anna Sharypova.
“I want to let you know that I’m stepping away from playing professional football. On behalf of myself and my family I want to thank everybody who was a part of these phenomenal years.
“The support and love you shared with me was unbelievable and more I could have ever asked for. Now I’m ready and open for all the beautiful possibilities that are coming towards me.”
Anna, who completed her architecture degree before pursuing modelling full-time, wed the former Chelsea player in 2018. The dark-haired beauty, originally from Kazakhstan, who also runs a popular travel blog, had a baby with him in 2019.
