Prince William sparks fan frenzy at native bar as house owners report large increase

The Prince of Wales paid a short visit to a local pub for a cheeky pint in the runup to the festive holidays, which is now helping the owners rake in some much-needed cash

Prince William has inadvertently caused a financial boom for a local pub after he paid a visit. The owners of the bar are now raking in cash after the future king opted to stop by for a drink.

The Prince of Wales had swung into The Two Brewers in Windsor, not far from the royal estate back in February. The major royal had been in the area as he was offering a cameo in Apple TV’s The Reluctant Traveller.

Since then, the prince’s visit has caused a surge in people visiting the establishment looking to have their own festive pint. The owners are incredibly thankful to the royal member, as they admitted they were shellshocked when they saw Prince William come in.

Speaking to RadarOnline, owner Stuart O’Brien explained that William had popped in for a quick and quiet drink together with actor Eugene Levy, 79. At the time, the visit was rather uneventful and no one had batted an eyelid.

But after the series hit our screens back in October, the pub has seen a huge boom in sales after it was featured in one of the TV show’s episodes. Stuart explained that following the series’ broadcast, many punters have been drawn to the pub, and footfall has risen massively.

This has since been dubbed by locals as a lesser version of the “Kate effect”. This refers to the huge wave of attention many establishments often see when in the wake of a visit William’s wife, Kate.

The pub is conveniently located just outside the gates of Windsor Castle, which made it a dawdle for the future king as he stepped into the pub for a little drink. The pub is already well-known and well-loved by the community, as well as visitors thanks to its charm and proximity to real-life royals.

Joking with the outlet, Stuart admitted that traction to the pub had been boosted “just a smidge” thanks to the series. “But yes! A lot of people coming in, a lot of tourists come in because they’ve seen the show.”

Because of the TV show, several other programmes such as Gogglebox have also shown the pub off to viewing audiences both at home and abroad. It is thanks to the show that the owner is now filled to the brim with punters on a regular basis.

According to Stuart, several customers have requested to sit in the exact booth that the royal and the Emmy-winning actor sat down whilst filming. The table has grown so much in popularity that Stuart has given it its own name.

“At the moment, we’re kind of calling it ‘The Future King’s Corner’ for just a bit of a laugh, and then we’ll upgrade it to ‘The King’s Corner’ as and when,” Stuart said. “But yeah, ‘The Royal Table,’ or ‘The Future King’s Corner,’ as people like to say.”

In the wake of their conversation, a framed photo of the filming of the episode now proudly hangs right above the booth. This is accompanied with a plaque commemorating the visit, which took place on February 4 of this year.

A second photo of the Prince can also be spotted above the bar, after Stuart and the barmen had a quick chat with the royal once the cameras stopped rolling. Describing the prince’s demeanour, he said that William was a happy and relaxed character and was grateful to the prince for agreeing to take a picture.
