Punters rage over €37 Christmas dinner at legendary Benidorm stag man’s restaurant
Self-styled “King of Benidorm” Frank the Stag Man had promised punters the best Christmas Dinner in time, but Brits felt kicked in the Costas when they were dished up a paltry plate on the big day
British holidaymakers hoping for a slap up festive feast in Benidorm were left devastated by their dismal dinner plates.
Diners took to social media to complain about the €37 (£32) per head Christmas Dinners dished up at the “Stag Man Steakhouse”, ran by self-styled “King of Benidorm” known as Frank “the Stag Man”.
Around 220 people were said to have booked for the set menu, which Frank had advertised on his social media heavily in the run up to December 25.
But photos shared online showed a paltry handful of veg with a single Yorkshire Pudding, a flat dollop of creamy mash and either a thin slice of beef of a turkey leg.
Frank, who runs a number of bars in the Brit holiday hotspot, hit back on social media and said the restaurant was “brand new” and blamed the complaints on a “dodgy couple” who posted a photo on Facebook that “wasn’t on their plate.”
One Brit posted a photo of her plate on social media and raged: “Stag man Xmas dinner that he thought would be the ‘best in Benidorm’. I think not.
“Food missing, table forgotten about, gravy like jelly, Yorkshire pudding hadn’t even been in oven we don’t think, silly man to think he can take this many people for Xmas dinner, it should have been capped. I’m now siting in a bar eating a toastie for my Christmas dinner.”
As other photos of diners’ plates were shared on social media, she added: “Now I’m the bad one for posting. Sorry if other people are happy but this isn’t my style if Xmas dinner. I’m not a bad person I just want others to know it wasn’t what we was told it was.”
Frank – who lives in the Costa Blanca resort with legendary stag do performer girlfriend Jade Benidorm and was on hand to help serve up the Christmas dinners – hit back on his own social media account.
In a video shared to Facebook, he said: “I want to apologise to anybody who felt the meal wasn’t exactly what they wanted from a Christmas dinner. This is a brand new restaurant, the Christmas menu was something we came up with very quickly.
“I think there was a bit of a disconnect between ourselves, well me really and my kitchen. I had an idea of what I wanted to have as a Christmas dinner… I think they just didn’t quite understand what I wanted.”
In a separate video, he added: “We’ve just taken over two brilliant restaurants. I know there’s a lot of haters that have jumped on the bandwagon. It’s understandable, they’re just jealous as f**k, I’m the stag man for one.
“Two, if you see the restaurants I’ve just taken over are absolutely f**king fantastic. And the things is that we had a dodgy couple that were in there. They waited for us to leave before they even put the photo on Facebook.
“And definitely the photo they put on Facebook definitely wasn’t on their plate. They waited a minute after us leaving the brand new restaurant before sending us a message and it was a very aggressive message. It’s a brand new restaurant.”
Girlfriend Jade added: “They put a post on Facebook, they never spoke to a manager, they never raised an issue in the restaurant. They never raised an issue with us.”
