Unhappy diners given refund by Benidorm stag man after €37 Christmas dinner row

The self-styled “King of Benidorm” known as Frank the Stag Man has insisted anybody who complained about their Christmas dinner at his new steakhouse was given a refund on the day

Disappointed diners left dismayed at their Christmas dinner have been given a full refund by a Benidorm bar owner, he has claimed.

Frank Kennedy – known as Frank “the Stag Man” in the Costa Blanca holiday hotspot – faced a social media backlash after customers at his newly opened Stag Man Steakhouse shared photos of their paltry plates on Christmas Day.

But in a fresh video, he insisted those who complained on the day were given a refund. It is not clear if the Brit who posted her disappointment that sparked the online row has been given her money back.

Frank said in a video update addressing the backlash: “Those that complained did get a refund. They got it very happily as well. There was no messing about, no silliness. Anyone who wasn’t happy did get a refund. So there you go.”

His girlfriend Jade, known as “Benidorm’s most extreme stripper”, added in the video: “But we have also had a lot of messages saying ‘we had a Christmas dinner, we were very happy, all kids loved it, we had a great time.

“So we’ve had a lot of positivity too. So it is what it is. Be happy. There’s more happening in the world than a bloody Christmas dinner. It’s not like anybody died. We have apologised, we have corrected the situation.

“Anyone who wanted a refund got a refund, we’re moving on building bigger and better, building something to be proud of. What more do you want? All you can do is improve and that’s exactly what we are doing.

“There’s only so many times you can go over and over the same thing without it sounding ridiculous. We are trying to brighten the situation and have a little laugh.

“Like I said, nobody died. It’s not like end of the world, disaster, apocalypse. We can still smile and move on and have a very, very happy new year.”

Frank, who had previously laughed off criticism by joking ‘I won’t be crying in me Lambo’, then went on: “Somebody just said to me the haters are losers and you couldn’t get it more right.”

The row erupted when photos emerged online showing a handful of veg with a single Yorkshire Pudding, a flat dollop of creamy mash and a thin slice of beef at Frank’s €37 a head Christmas lunch, which around 220 booked on for.

He initially insisted the photo one of his unhappy customers put on Facebook “definitely wasn’t on their plate” and promised to post a video tomorrow that will “prove this was a set up by the couple who took to social media about this complaint”.

But three days on, he has yet to post such a video and since apologised, saying: “This is a brand new restaurant, the Christmas menu was something we came up with very quickly.

“I think there was a bit of a disconnect between ourselves, well me really and my kitchen. I had an idea of what I wanted to have as a Christmas dinner… I think they just didn’t quite understand what I wanted.”
