Woman accused of killing boyfriend despatched ‘kiss the satan’ menace earlier than horror crash
Geovanna Proque da Silva, 21, is accused of deliberately running down her ex-boyfriend Raphael Canuto da Costa, 21, and his friend Joyce Correa da Silva, 19, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, after allegedly sending threatening messages
A woman who fatally mowed down her boyfriend had previously sent him menacing messages, in one telling him he should “kiss the devil”.
Geovanna Proque da Silva, 21, stands accused of running over Raphael Canuto da Costa, 21, and Joyce Correa da Silva, 19, in a jealous rage on Rua Professor Leitão da Cunha, in the Parque Regina area of Sao Paolo, Brazil on December 28. The chilling incident, caught on CCTV, shows both men riding a scooter around 3am when they were struck from behind.
The day before the fatal collision, Silva, who was attending a party, allegedly sent threatening messages to Costa, her boyfriend of just a month, instructing him to “kiss the devil” and vowing to “cut your throat”.
Silva, a veterinary medicine student, is currently being held in pretrial detention by police for the murders of her ex-boyfriend and his friend, with officers alleging she had intended to kill the two out of jealousy. Police reported that witnesses claimed she had threatened Costa on the evening of December 27 at a barbecue, allegedly warning him: “If I go there, this steak knife will cut your throat.”
She is then alleged to have followed up with another message to Costa stating: “I’m tired of being alone. Hell. Funny how before, no amount of rushing around would stop you from replying to me. Do you hate me?”
In a third text, police alleged she said: “Go kiss the devil. I’m pissed.”
She allegedly followed up the messages with others sent at 2am on Sunday, sending threats to people at a party, including to Costa’s female friends with whom he had no romantic involvement and allegedly saying she would remove them from the venue “one way or another.”
Dr Gabrielle Schneid de Pinho, Silva’s stepmother, said she had “psychiatric disorders” and used “medication” to treat “depression and bipolar disorder”.
She also alleged that her stepdaughter had “relationship problems” with Raphael that she claimed were “motivated by betrayals and jealousy”. On one occasion, she accompanied Silva to Costa’s home after she allegedly suspected there were women at his home, arriving at the residence before leaving in a car, behind which Costa reportedly followed.
Costa later stopped at a liquor store and picked up his friend Silva, before his former girlfriend decided instead to follow them, before Dr Pinho alleged she started “chasing Raphael at high speed” with her in the back seat.
She said: “From the moment Geovanna started chasing Raphael at high speed, I repeatedly asked her to stop the car.”
And she added: “Geovanna didn’t say anything and just drove behind Raphael.”
Both riders were thrown from their scooter following the collision, and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses have claimed that, following the incident, the student told onlookers at the scene of the horrific crash: “Go help your friend and the slut I just killed.”
