M&S hopes for festive carry after cyber assault gloom
Investors in Marks & Spencer will be hoping for some sparkle this week as it recovers from the devastating cyber attack it suffered last spring.
The retailer will on Thursday publish a trading update covering the Christmas period – when it will have hoped to have won back customers.
The High Street stalwart lost out when a cyber strike at Easter left it unable to sell products online for nearly two months, prompting some shoppers to turn to rival fashion group Next instead.

Dan Coatsworth, head of markets at AJ Bell, said: ‘M&S will be hoping that its Christmas wares were attractive enough to win back custom from people who defected to Next.
‘Otherwise, it has a problem on its hands.’
