Walz Condemns Trump’s ‘Depraved’ Remarks Baselessly Implying Minnesota Governor Had State Rep Killed

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) called out President Donald Trump’s “dangerous, depraved behavior” after Trump shared posts on Truth Social implying Walz had Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman killed.

On Saturday evening, Trump shared a video to Truth Social of someone alleging that the person accused of killing Hortman, Vance Boelter, worked for Walz, claiming Walz had Hortman killed after she voted to “take away health care from illegal immigrants.”

In July, Boelter was indicted on six charges of stalking and murder after killing Hortman and her husband, and shooting Minnesota State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette Hoffman. After the murders, police found a notebook inside of Boelter’s car with a list of Democratic lawmakers, as well as abortion providers. At the time, Walz called the murder a “politically motivated assassination.” Videos have resurfaced of Boelter preaching against abortion and how people in America “don’t know what sex they are.”

While conspiracy theorists describe Boelter as one of Walz’s aides, he was never a paid worker for Walz, according to The Washington Post. In 2019, Walz reappointed Boelter for a four-year term on the Governor’s Workforce Development Board after he had previously served under Gov. Mark Dayton (D). It was a volunteer position that suggests workforce development policies to the governor and state legislature.
