Brit vacationer ‘on the journey of a lifetime’ vanishes in Thailand after talking to his household on Christmas Day

A British tourist has vanished in Thailand after video calling his family on Christmas Day.

Mark Counsell, 31, from Pontypool in Gwent, set off on the trip of a lifetime and has been travelling around southeast Asia.

However after a video call with his family between 9am and 10am on Christmas Day, they have not heard from him since. 

He is believed to be in either Thailand or the Kuala Lumpur area of Malaysia. 

Police described Mark as a white male 5ft 9in height, with an average build. 

A Gwent Police spokesperson added: ‘He has short brown hair with faded sides and a short brown/ginger beard which is longer on the chin.

‘He was last seen wearing a Khaki coloured Fred Perry t-shirt.’

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Gwent Police.
