Adolf Hitler’s misplaced ‘diary’ reveals the Nazi chief’s secret love for Hollywood actress

A secret diary suspected of being written by the German genocidal maniac has been found in an attic. The 113 hand written pages includes passages where the mass murderer confesses his adoration for an actress who the Nazi’s dubbed a traitor

A diary believed to have been penned by the genocidal maniac Adolf Hitler has been uncovered in a potential historic find.

The contents of the journal has revealed the Nazi leader had a secret love for a prolific German Hollywood star – who the Nazi’s dubbed a traitor.

Passages found in the book record the mass murder confessing his adoration over the German actress, as it reads: “I think I’ve fallen in love with her” as the dictator goes on to reveal he asked the secret service to contact the woman.

The alleged ground-breaking diary found in an attic, consisting of 113 hand written pages, has been sold for around £26,000. While the book has not yet been authenticated as being written by the Nazi leader, experts have confirmed the paper dates from the period.

The book was originally offered to Olaf Haubold, 74, who was initially unable to match the seller’s asking price. The 74-year-old then went on to broker a deal with a collector he knew who ended up paying around £26,000 (Euro 30,000).

Olaf Haubold said: “In 2008, an elderly gentleman came to my office and offered me documents from Adolf Hitler’s estate.

“It seemed suspicious to me at first, but I asked him to show me a sample. He then came with a notebook and several documents that initially appeared to be authentic. Because I lack expertise in this area, I sought help from historians, and we concluded that there was a possibility of its authenticity.”

Olaf explained at first he was suspicious due to the seller’s vague explanation of finding the book in an attic. He added: “The gentleman who offered the collection didn’t want to say anything about its origin. The ‘attic find’ explanation was too vague for us.

Olaf noted documents found in the diary bolstered the potential of the diary being credible as he said: “Some documents bear stamps of the Ministry for State Security of the former GDR, otherwise known as the Stasi. It’s possible it came from somewhere like that.”

The journal records uncovered alleged admiration between Hitler and the German actress Marlene Dietrich who the Nazi’s deemed as a traitor due to her renouncing her German citizen due to her staunchly anti-Nazi political views.

On Hitler’s alleged crush over actress the notebooks reads: “I have to try to bring her back to Germany. I’ve had all of Dietrich’s new films sent to me. I think I’ve fallen in love with her.

“Eva doesn’t stand a chance against Dietrich. But I won’t let on. The woman has to come to Germany, even if it’s by force. I’ll set the intelligence service on her. Dietrich is hanging around with the Americans now. I’ll write her another letter. The best thing would be to offer her money. Women will do anything for money, you can see that with Eva.

“I’ll use Eva as a test subject and study her behaviour. I’m going to make Dietrich a money offer and see if she takes the bait.

“So, let’s get to work. Because I am the F hrer. The secret service says it won’t be so easy to get hold of Dietrich. What is easy anyway! I told them to put in the effort. I want to see results. That’s what they’re paid for, and not badly at that.”

The find is not the first journal to be attributed to Hitler. Back in 1983 the German Magazine purchased a series of 60 volumes of journals named the “Hitler Diaries”.

But they were later found to have been forged and two men were convicted of defrauding Stern of 9.3 million Deutsche Marks, about £2.3 million. The ordeal would later go on to form the plot of the German film for the 1992 film “Schtonk!”
