Cruz Hewitt retains VERY glamorous firm at Australian Open as he joins Roger Federer’s twin daughters

Cruz Hewitt has made some famous friends.

The budding tennis champion caught a match at the Australian Open in Melbourne on Tuesday alongside Roger Federer‘s twin daughters.

The 17-year-old sat beside Myla and Charlene Federer, who the Swiss tennis legend shares with his wife, fellow player Mirka Federer.

The identical twin girls, both 16, looked relaxed in the company of the handsome player, who has been rising in the ranks like his champion father, Lleyton Hewitt.

The trio looked engaged in the game as they watched Jannik Sinner of Italy play against Hugo Gaston of France in the Men’s Singles First Round.

Cruz sported a plain white shirt and brown shorts, and sat close to the glamorous sisters.

The group shared a few warm chats throughout the match, cracking smiles and having a laugh at multiple points.

Last week, Cruz brought back memories of his famous father Lleyton as he fought hard during his Australian Open qualifying match, before falling to a straight-sets defeat on Tuesday.

The teenager went down 6-3 6-3 to American Michael Zheng, who is ranked 174th in the world.

With Lleyton and wife Bec watching on at an outside court at Melbourne Park, Cruz had his serve broken in the middle of the opening set, which stayed on serve for the first six games.

However, he lost five straight games as Zheng went on to break his serve again in the second set.

Cruz’s father was famous for his never-say-die attitude and that was on display as the teenager broke back twice, shouting ‘come on!’ and pumping his fist just like Lleyton did in his playing days.

Six double faults hurt Cruz as the crowd chanted, ‘Let’s go, Hewitt, let’s go!’ at the packed court, but their support couldn’t get him over the line.

Cruz is the son of tennis ace Lleyton, 44, and former Home and Away star Bec Hewitt, 42.

Lleyton has publicly acknowledged the toll of their nomadic lifestyle, revealing that Bec had quietly shouldered the emotional burden of uprooting their young family over and over again.

The newly inducted Sport Australia Hall of Fame legend said that Bec had been the family’s anchor as they bounced across the globe for his tennis career and later their son’s emerging journey in the sport.

‘Bec’s travelled the world with us and it’s a grind, and especially with three young kids, we’ve had to move base and set up overseas.

‘And she’s done everything with grace and elegance,’ Lleyton said at the ceremony.

‘You’ve been the rock the whole time supporting me, and I certainly wouldn’t have been able to continue my career and be able to play 20 Australian Opens without you. I’m eternally grateful and I love you so much.’

The couple have three children – daughters Mia, 20, and Ava, 15, as well as son Cruz.
