UFC announcer makes brutal remark moments earlier than fighter’s terrifying collapse on stage
Former UFC champion fighter Michael Bisping uttered some unfortunately timed commentary during a weigh-in for bantamweight star Cameron Smotherman on Friday morning.
Smotherman was in the final stages of preparation for his Saturday fight against Ricky Turcios.
The American fighter successfully made the 135.5 pound weight limit as Bisping was discussing the process of weigh-ins with TNT Sports in the UK.
‘I never have any sympathy for these guys,’ Bisping told his co-hosts as Smotherman stood on the stage directly behind him.
‘You’ve got one job: show up, on weight, in shape… You’re a professional fighter, it’s not hard, is it?’
At the exact moment Bisping uttered those final words, Smotherman fainted – crashing down face-first on the stage about a foot away from the TNT crew.

Smotherman initially stumbled before falling face-first onto the floor. He appeared unresponsive for a moment before medical staff quickly rushed to his assistance.
Bisping was heard saying, ‘Oh s**t… I think he’s fainted, oh man’ while briefly looking awkwardly at the camera.
The shocking incident was also captured on the UFC’s Morning Weigh-In Show and left the program’s hosts stunned. ‘That’s the first time I’ve ever seen that,’ one remarked.
While producers quickly cut away from the horrific scene, fans in attendance caught the aftermath of his terrifying fall and videos quickly began circulating social media.
It showed Smotherman being tended to by medics as he returned to consciousness, before being helped backstage by team members and taken to hospital.
The UFC have since confirmed that his fight against Turcios has been cancelled.

The bout was set to be Smotherman’s fourth in the UFC. He first appeared on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2023 but last his fight against Charalampos Grigoriou.
Despite the defeat, he earned his UFC debut just one year later, where he secured a three round unanimous decision over English fighter Jake Hadley.
However, since that victory on October 19th 2024, Smotherman has endured back-to-back defeats at the hands of Serhiy Sidey and then Ricky Simon.
