Alex Pretti killing places Donald Trump’s presidency in bother, Stephen A. Smith claims in dire warning to GOP
Stephen A. Smith believes the fatal shooting of ICU nurse Alex Pretti has imperiled Donald Trump‘s presidency and the future of the Republican Party.
The 37-year-old intensive care nurse was killed after a struggle with federal agents in Minneapolis on Saturday.
His death came just two weeks after 37-year-old Renee Good was fatally shot in her car by an Immigration and Customs (ICE) officer.
The two shootings have intensified unrest in Minnesota, which has been building since ICE agents moved in on the orders of the Trump administration.
In the immediate aftermath of Pretti’s death, Department of Homeland security chief Kristi Noem accused him of ‘attacking officers’, while Trump advisor Stephen Miller branded him a ‘would-be assassin.’
Since then, however, Trump has promised to ‘de-escalate’ in Minnesota, sparking a ferocious revolt from loyal MAGA supporters amid fears his flagship election pledge of mass deportations could unravel.

ESPN host-turned political commentator Smith believes the Republican Party is in a ‘world of trouble’ and he has also warned Trump: ‘If there ever was a time where his presidency is in trouble, it is now.
Smith explained on his SiriusXM show: ‘When you see the shooting that took place of this nurse named Alex Pretti and you listen to the explanations that ICE, that Homeland Security and others have given. And administrators from the White House opening their big, fat mouths like Stephen Miller who is a strong influence and senior advisor to Trump, when you hear the words that are coming out of his mouth… you know something is awry.
‘Did you watch the videos, ladies and gentlemen – because I did, about 12 times. You know what I saw? I saw four people, four law enforcement officials on top of Alex Pretti and somehow, someway, they felt endangered so much that they stepped back and pumped nine bullets in him.’
Smith believes the Republicans face the bigger issue because Trump is only slated to be in office for another few years.
‘We can slice it anyway we want to… the GOP is in trouble because Trump is close to being the past,’ he explained. ‘Get past the midterms and after that he has two years. And unless he’s going to be able to circumvent the 22nd amendment of the constitution, he’s not running for a third term.’
Smith added: ‘The objective for him, especially, from a legacy perspective if you listen those who love him, who support him and fawn over him – as many folks do religiously – it’s about him making sure the GOP wins the midterms.’
