Gang ‘armed with weapons’ launches assault on residential road
A forensic tent remains in place after a man was seriously injured
A gang reported to have been armed with weapons launched a serious attack on a residential street, police said.
Officers remain on the scene today (January 31) with a blue police CSI tent erected on Greenside Crescent in Droylsden, Tameside. Parts of the street remain sealed off behind a cordon.
Police said the assault took place at around 6pm last night., according to the Manchester Evening News.
The M.E.N understands the incident involves a serious assault, with at least one victim injured. The victim, believed to be a man in his 30s, was treated by paramedics at the scene and he is in hospital being treated for serious head injuries.
Detective Inspector Paul Cawsey, of Tameside CID, said in a statement: “The investigation is at an early stage as we try to establish the motivation behind this incident that has resulted in a man being treated at the scene and in hospital.
“It is believed the assault was carried by a number of individuals using weapons that have caused serious injury to the victim.
“We have officers in the area as we continue our investigation and to provide a reassuring presence.
“We are asking members of the public with information or who were in the area last night, especially anyone with CCTV, doorbell or phone footage, to contact us on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting log 2715-30/01/2026.”
