Katie Price’s new husband languished in Dubai jail weeks earlier than marrying star
Mum-of-five Katie recently wed businessman Lee Andrews in Dubai in a surprise ceremony where only the two lovebirds were present, which came just weeks after he was reportedly released from prison
Katie Price’s new husband served time in a hellhole Dubai prison just weeks before the loved-up pair met, it has emerged. Lee Andrews, 41, is said to have been banged up in the notorious Dubai Central Prison on fraud charges.
He is reported to have spent three weeks in the overcrowded nick – also known as the Al-Awir prison and renowned for violence, dusease and cramped conditions – where he shared a huge cell with 65 other inmates.
The UAE-based businessman was arrested at his home over allegations of obtaining money by deception and reportedly finally freed after apparently paying court fines.
The ordeal last November came weeks before he struck up a whirlwind online romance with former glamour model Katie, 47. The pair last week stunned relatives when they tied the knot in the emirate, despite multiple women raising concerns about Lee.
A Brit who was also serving time at the time sprawling mega jail at the same Lee was locked up said he looked “terrified and flustered” when he arrived and slept on a concrete floor with no mattress.
The unnamed inmate told the Sun: “Lee was in a terrible state when he arrived. The establishment and the staff who run it take pride in the misery of inmates being in there is mental and physical torture.”
Lee was said to have been put into an “Amber” cell which he shared with 65 other inmates, including rapists and killer. The fellow inmate said Lee struggled to comprehend what had happened to him.
The inmate said he and another fellow Brit helped Lee out with a mattress and other basic bits to help him survive. But he added that Lee was constantly asking people to borrow money as he had none on his prison card, despite claiming to be wealthy.
And he warned the page three legend: “You could tell within an hour that Lee was a complete bull-sh***er and nothing he said was true.
“It is very odd that he has come out and married Katie Price so soon – and I can only assume he is after her money and she should be very careful indeed.”
Mum-of-five Katie recently wed businessman Lee Andrews in a surprise ceremony where only the two lovebirds were present. Katie, who has been married three times before, went for a spin in a £180,000 Ferrari given to her by Lee as a wedding gift.
But two ex-girlfriends – Alana Percival and Crystal Janke, who he dated at the same time last year – claimed he is a “lying swindler”.
Asked about his stint in prison, Andrews initially said “no comment” then denied being jailed, the Sun reported. The prison is used for both male and female convicts with them being separated once they step through its imposing gates.
Horror stories from previous jailbirds paint a horror picture of life behind bars there, with Brit Karl Williams dubbing it “the Dubai version of Alcatraz” as he recalled seeing inmates stabbed to death in front of guards who did nothing to stop the violence.
At least four HIV-positive prisoners at Al-Awir were allegedly denied medication up to five months, according to another shocking report by the Human Rights Watch.
