Brits have been told to brace for widespread flooding – particularly in the south of the country – after rainfall has hammered down since the middle of the week

There have been 212 flood alerts issued across the UK as heavy rain continues to fall across the country. Since the early hours of Wednesday (February 4), Brits have been hammered by wet weather with the government now releasing a stern warning.
“Ongoing groundwater flooding is probable in parts of the South of England,” came the warning on the Gov.uk website. “Along with river flooding possible but not expected on the Somerset Levels, throughout the next five days. Properties could flood and there could be travel disruption.
It added: “Further local flooding is probable from surface water and possible from rivers across parts of the southwest of England today (Thursday) and Friday, with inland flooding possible more widely across England today through to Saturday.
“Local coastal flooding is probable for some northeastern coasts and possible along the southwestern coasts of England today. Coastal impacts are also possible more widely along some coasts of England between today and Friday.
“Land, roads and properties may flood and there may be travel disruption.”
