Couple with 35 12 months age hole welcome son on husband’s seventieth birthday
Glenda, 35, and Roy, 70, first met in November 2020 and were married in July 2022. Now the happy couple have welcomed their son, Roy Briley III, into the world
A couple with a 35-year age difference celebrated the birth of their son on the same day as the father’s 70th birthday.
Glenda, 35, welcomed her son Roy Briley III, now seven-months-old, on 6 June 2025, which coincided with her husband Roy’s birthday. The pair first crossed paths when Glenda sought advice from real-estate and insurance company owner Roy on setting up her own insurance business in November 2020.
Sparks flew instantly, leading Roy to invite Glenda for dinner that very evening. The duo enjoyed a “wonderful conversation” and subsequently went on four more dates within a week. Just two months after their initial meeting, they moved in together, became an exclusive couple, and Roy popped the question over dinner on Valentine’s Day 2022 at the Captain Cook Hotel, Anchorage.
They tied the knot in a cosy ceremony attended by just 20 guests on 27 July 2022. Eager to start a family, they embarked on their IVF journey in September 2022. After battling prostate cancer, Roy underwent surgery to extract sperm, and Glenda fell pregnant on their third IVF attempt in December 2024.
Their son, Roy Briley III, was born on 6 June 2025. He is Roy’s ninth child, as he has eight children from two previous marriages. Roy says he “feels a responsibility” to lead as healthy a life as possible for his wife and young son. He exercises six times per week on the treadmill, does three to four gym workouts per week, and has chosen to drink only water since 2022.
Roy, a semi-retired business owner from Anchorage, Alaska, admitted: “I always feel from my perspective from people online thinking it’s not a good idea, I agree. It just happens to work for us.”
He said: “I’m not the type of person to say things online, but for whatever reason it’s worked out. From my perspective too I shot my best shot when I saw a beautiful woman. Roy has my wives face and I couldn’t dream for anything better.”
“When she smiles her whole face lights up. I do feel as an older man a responsibility towards her and the baby to live the healthiest and best life I can. I’m certainly not perfect, I have never drank in my lifetime and never done drugs.
“At this point in time I’m healthy enough, I may not like 35 or 45 but I feel healthy and go on the treadmill six times per week”.
His wife Glenda was 29 when they first met at Roy’s office, where the “conversation flowed” instantly. Glenda said: “I always tell people Roy and I have more similarities than differences.”
She added: “We’re very similar in the way he is a very driven individual, very hardworking, very successful and that’s how we met. We just had attraction, it was just there. The fact he had the courage to ask me to dinner was attractive – a lot of guys see a pretty girl and go shy”.
She admits with family dynamics it “takes a while for people to warm up” to the couple, with her mum Rose, 56, questioning if dating Roy was something she was “sure” she wanted. Roy says despite everyone in his family dealing with their relationship “differently” five years in people are taking them “pretty seriously”.
Keen to expand their family, Glenda underwent her first embryo implantation via IVF in December 2022. Following two miscarriages, she successfully conceived their son in December 2024.
She said: “It’s definitely given us something we’ve really looked forward too. With Roy being semi-retired and his other kids living their lives, this gives us something to do.
“All he does is hang out with his son. We plan life around him – it’s a busy life and we definitely enjoy it that’s for sure”.
The couple candidly share their relationship journey on social media, documenting the lead up to Roy’s birth. They find the online commenters’ reactions to be “mixed”.
The couple said: “I would say to be honest a lot of people are very positive. Sometimes people comment on videos and say ‘oh my god how long is he [Roy Sr] going to live?’.
“We’ve had some negative comments where people say really mean stuff like ‘oh my god she’s there for the money. I really just ignore those type of comments.” The added: “We have all these text messages from people saying ‘you inspire me and have given me hope, me and my boyfriends have an age gap and are trying to have kids'”.
The couple are planning to have another child and will commence their next round of IVF in December 2026.
