Major UK resort shuts with out warning as greater than 100 employees to lose jobs

The four-star Nottinghamshire hotel ceased trading with immediate effect on February 10 after entering administration, with administrators sending an email thanking customers for their ‘kindness over the years’

A four-star hotel in Nottinghamshire has collapsed into administration, resulting in all staff being made redundant. Nottingham Belfry Hotel & Spa, in Mellow Way, was appointed administrators on January 7, though the hotel continued trading and welcoming customers.

However, it was recently confirmed in an email to customers that the hotel had ceased trading with immediate effect yesterday (Tuesday, February 10).

In the email seen by Nottinghamshire Live, FRP Administrators said: “It is with sincere regret that I must advise that the Company, trading as Nottingham Belfry & Spa, entered Administration on 7 January 2026 with Ian Corfield and Anthony Simmons appointed as Joint Administrators.

“Subsequently, the Company ceased trading with immediate effect on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.”, reports the Express.

“This has been an incredibly difficult situation for everyone involved, and the decision made by the Administrators was not taken lightly.

“We completely understand how disappointing and inconvenient this news is for you. Please accept our heartfelt apologies for the disruption this may cause, especially given the short notice and the challenging circumstances.

“The hotel’s team would also like to express their sincere gratitude to all partners and customers for their support, trust, and kindness over the years. It has meant so much to the team, and they are truly grateful to everyone for their custom.”

According to Companies House records, the hotel had a workforce of 121 staff members.

The exact number of redundancies remains uncertain at present, although several employees have reached out to Nottinghamshire Live on condition of anonymity, claiming that the entire workforce was let go yesterday afternoon.

The Nottingham Belfry was a well-regarded hotel boasting more than 120 guest rooms, dining and bar facilities, conference space, and a wellness spa.

Google reviewers described the venue as “stunning” and commended its “friendly and helpful” team.
