Five harm in Nottingham hit-and-run as automobile ploughs into group of individuals

Five people were injured when pedestrians were hit by a car on Talbot Street, Nottingham with the major road closed for around 15 hours during the police investigation

Five people were injured after being mowed down in a hit-and-run collision which closed a major road for 15 hours. Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that emergency services rushed to Talbot Street around 2am on February 12 following reports that a vehicle had struck several pedestrians.

Whilst five people suffered injuries in the incident, three required hospital treatment, though their wounds are not considered life-threatening or life-changing.

The stretch of Talbot Street between Wollaton Street and Clarendon Street remained closed throughout much of the day, with partial access restored during the afternoon before the entire route finally reopened at approximately 5pm.

Officers have also confirmed that a police cordon observed in a car park near Deptford Crescent in Bulwell was connected to their Talbot Street inquiry, with one witness reporting they had observed a “smashed up car” being retrieved by police, reports Nottinghamshire Live.

Detective Inspector Lisa Jones, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This is a serious incident which will understandably cause concern.

“Detectives are working at pace and will be using all the investigative tools at our disposal. While we believe it to be an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public there will be an increase in patrols in this area throughout today.

“Officers were at the scene very quickly and I’d also like to thank members of the public who stopped to provide assistance to those injured.

“It is really important anyone with any information, or relevant CCTV, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage, gets in touch without delay.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident 36 of 12 February 2026, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
