Weather to be ‘finest for a while’ after Arctic blast – and we would even see the solar
The recent dismal weather is set to be banished for 24 hours at least with a glorious sunshine day on Saturday – but the picture starts to look bleak again from Sunday

Brits can finally bask in sunny weather after weeks of misery. It will provide welcome relief for millions after Friday’s Arctic blast left most of the UK shivering.
Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna said Valentine’s Day tomorrow will probably be “the best day we’ve seen for some time” with “a lot of sunshine across the UK”.
He added that the temperatures will be “cooler than average” but this will be “offset by the sunshine”.
Yellow weather warnings for snow and ice were in force on Thursday and Friday across parts of Britain with weather watchers warning that 1-2cm of snow was expected on low ground, while on hills above 300 metres accumulations of 2-5cm were possible and up to 10cm “very locally”.
An Arctic Maritime air mass was to blame for bringing colder conditions from the north of Scotland southwards with outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow with the Met Office stating it would likely lead to “icy surfaces and some travel disruption”.
Mr Petagna added: “Until midday, there’s a couple of snow and ice warnings out for Scotland and Northern England.”
But the news that a rare sighting of that big bright thing in the sky will be visible across the UK is set to help Brits ignore the cold temperatures.
It comes just two days after the sun finally broke through the clouds in Aberdeen – for the first time in 21 days.
Sunshine in the Granite City was last recorded in the city three weeks ago, on January 21.
This is the longest sunless period in the area since Met Office records began in 1957.
