I acquired my 38J breasts diminished after males wouldn’t cease staring – now I really feel reborn
Laureen Atlan, 26, from Paris, had breast reduction surgery from 38J to 38D after years of back pain and unwanted attention in public from blokes who wouldn’t stop staring
A woman underwent a breast reduction from size 38J to 38D due to constant unwanted attention from men. Laureen Atlan confessed she felt uneasy in public and found it challenging to dress as she desired.
The decision was made to reduce her bust from a size 38J (or in the EU, 85J) to a more manageable size 38D (85D). Now aged 26, Laureen has shared how the breast reduction surgery has revolutionised her life, after years of enduring excruciating back pain and unwelcome stares from strangers.
“Before my breast reduction, my life was honestly horrible,” Laureen, hailing from Paris, confided to NeedToKnow. “I couldn’t dress the way I wanted, I felt uncomfortable in public, and I had terrible back pain every single day. Now that I’ve had the reduction, I feel completely reborn.
“Physically, I no longer have back pain, and mentally I feel so much more comfortable in my body and mind. It’s given me a thousand times more confidence.”
The social media manager had been contemplating the surgery since she turned 18, but was unaware that the cost could be covered by the public health system.
Upon learning she qualified, Laureen sought out a surgeon and waited three months for her initial consultation, followed by another month before the operation was finally booked.
In an effort to deflect attention, Laureen often opted for oversized, baggy clothing. However, she discovered this only made her feel larger and didn’t address the problem. She also had to shell out at least £70 per bra to accommodate her chest.
However, the surgery in November, which had a recovery time of two weeks, finally alleviated her discomfort. She further stated: “I didn’t feel at ease in my body because there was a lot of staring. I always wore loose clothes.
“My advice to anyone considering a reduction is not to wait. Many women do it around the age of 50 and tell me they regret not having done it sooner.
“Also, don’t be afraid – the process is quick, there are usually very few complications, and personally, I didn’t feel any pain at all. The scar is barely visible. It’s a small price to pay for a new life where you finally feel comfortable in your own body.”
