UK bar chain enters liquidation as all venues throughout the nation immediately shut

Point Blank, the UK’s first simulated-shooting-range bar which launched in 2019, has closed its three venues in Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester after entering liquidation

A British bar chain has revealed it is entering liquidation, leading to the closure of all its establishments nationwide. Point Blank, which initially launched in 2019, operated three sites across Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester.

Its Deansgate location first opened its doors in 2020 and was celebrated as Britain’s inaugural simulated-shooting-range bar and kitchen. The establishment enabled people to fire replica firearms at targets positioned within over 200 different scenarios displayed on screen.

It was also recognised for its regular live sports broadcasts, which frequently attracted substantial crowds. The adults-only venue additionally offered an array of beverages – including cocktails, beers, wines and soft drinks – alongside an ‘Americana’-themed food menu featuring tapas, plus pizzas and hot dogs.

During the festive period, it also sold miniature Yorkshire puddings topped with pigs in blankets. Just over a week ago, the Manchester location had been advertising various Valentine’s Day offers.

The establishment had also promoted plans to host a Super Bowl viewing on February 8. However, Point Blank’s owners have released a statement confirming that all three venues have shut with immediate effect as the business enters liquidation, reports the Express.

The firm stated the ‘unforeseen’ circumstances were triggered by losing their premises lease after their Manchester landlord entered administration.

The owners announced: “It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Point Blank Shooting has entered liquidation. This situation was completely unforeseen and beyond our control. Due to our Manchester landlord entering administration, our lease was lost as part of that process.

“This had a serious knock-on effect across the wider business, leaving us with no other option. After seven incredible years of trading, this is a devastating moment for everyone involved at Point Blank.”

They also stated they will be ‘working closely’ to determine the procedure for those who have already made bookings.

They continued: “If you currently have a booking with us, we are working closely with the relevant parties to gain clarity and provide answers.

“We kindly ask for your patience while this process is ongoing.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years – hopefully this is a see you later, not a goodbye.”
