Prince William and Kate fearful over the King’s well being after Andrew scandal
The impact of the arrest and investigation of the Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has begun to spill out and effect numerous other members of the royal family triggering concerns over the king’s health
William and Kate are said to be increasingly concerned about the health of King Charles after the arrest and release of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
Andrew’s arrest and connection to convicted paedophile Jeffery Epstein has created a royal scandal which won’t disappear anytime soon and now the ordeal has started to spill out and impact various other members of the royal family.
A royal insider has told the Mail that Prince William has become frustrated due to the longevity of the royal embarrassment as he fears Andrew’s scandal will still be a problem when he eventually takes the throne. The royal source said: “William is frustrated because it’s still likely to be a problem on his plate when he eventually becomes King.
“I’m sure the Prince and Princess of Wales have been itching to say something publicly to distance themselves but they have to be cautious because of the police investigation.
“I think William and Kate are acutely aware that this is a scandal that won’t be going away for a long time. It’s a mess left by Andrew and the late Queen and, although His Majesty is very much in charge, William is frustrated.”
The Prince of Wales told an interviewer he was “not in a calm state” when he arrived at the Baftas on Sunday.
Another royal source, also speaking to the Daily Mail, said the couple are concerned about the effect this recent scandal will have on the King’s health.
The source said: “Obviously William is not feeling calm and he would have spoken on behalf of them both. It’s a terrible situation and they are very concerned about the health of the King and the impact this will be having on him. He is exhausted and it’s draining for him.
“Also as parents of young children, to be reading all of this is pretty awful and they are clearly concerned. William let this slip out last during a conversation and he would have done that on purpose, that is very clear. But Catherine has kept very quiet.”
The development follows the arrest of the disgraced ex-duke, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who was arrested and released by Thames Valley Police. The former prince was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office on Thursday, February 19, on his 66th birthday and was released later that day.
Following the arrest, King Charles released a statement addressing the situation, stressing the “law must take its course”. The King’s statement read: ‘I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office.
‘What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.”
The development follows reports that the government is looking at proposals which would remove Andy from the line of succession. The motion would result in the disgraced former prince, presently eighth in line to the throne, being excluded by an Act of Parliament following agreement with the 14 British realms.
Sources indicate the government will commence consultation once multiple police investigations into allegations concerning Andrew’s behaviour have concluded. The King’s brother, who was sensationally detained at his temporary Norfolk residence on Thursday and held for 11 hours, had been facing growing pressure to abandon his position.
Sir Ed Davey, the Liberal Democrat leader, added his voice to calls saying Andrew’s position in the line of royal succession was something Parliament was “going to have to consider when the time is right”.
