Man Utd information: Michael Carrick praised for main change as Marcus Rashford deal agreed
Marcus Rashford has agreed personal terms with Barcelona ahead of a £26million permanent move, while Michael Carrick’s tactical overhaul continues to transform Manchester United
Manchester United are finally back on track. A resurgence in form has catapulted the club back into contention for the top four – and elevated interim head coach Michael Carrick into serious consideration for the position permanently.
Since the former Red Devils midfielder took over following Ruben Amorim’s sacking, United have regained a sense of stability, confidence and tactical sharpness. There have been small disappointments, but few can identify major criticism with Carrick’s initial month or so at the helm.
The 44-year-old might only be under contract until the season’s end, but the club’s future direction is already forming under his guidance. Here, Daily Star Sport summarises the latest developments from Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford has allegedly secured personal terms with Barcelona regarding a proposed permanent transfer to the Camp Nou. The striker has spent the campaign on loan from United and has been candid about his wish to prolong his stint beyond the summer, reports the Mirror.
The loan deal includes a £26million purchase option – a sum Barcelona are willing to pay. The main hurdle, though, has revolved around Rashford’s wage expectations.
The 28-year-old currently pockets approximately £325,000 per week at Old Trafford, an amount Barcelona were reluctant to match. Nevertheless, it’s now believed that Rashford has accepted a substantial salary reduction to facilitate what he considers a dream transfer.
With personal terms for a permanent switch to Barcelona now essentially agreed, any chance of a return to Old Trafford seems increasingly unlikely.

Carrick is already benefiting from restructuring his support staff at United. Since assuming control in January, the former Middlesbrough manager has implemented a string of significant alterations designed to address the failings of Amorim’s reign.
Central to that transformation has been the introduction of experience and leadership into the coaching team. Steve Holland has proven especially impactful, with the former England assistant broadly recognised for reinstating tactical discipline and defensive structure.
Carrick has also relied upon individuals with extensive understanding of both English football and the club’s identity. Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans, Travis Binnion and Craig Mawson have all fulfilled crucial roles behind the scenes throughout United’s revival.
On the field, Carrick’s readiness to discard Amorim’s contentious 3-4-2-1 formation in favour of a more conventional 4-2-3-1 has been enthusiastically welcomed. The choice to bring back Kobbie Mainoo has likewise earned acclaim, alongside his composed, thoughtful approach.
