Trump slams ‘unhelpful’ Starmer and says ‘I do not get it’ in blistering new assault

Britain’s “special relationship” with the US has been dealt a hammer blow after Donald Trump lambasted Keir Starmer for failing to support his war with Iran. The US President dubbed the Prime Minister “unhelpful” in a direct attack as he praised other European countries.
“This was the most solid relationship of all,” Trump told the Sun. “And now we have very strong relationships with other countries in Europe.”
“I never thought I’d see that. I never thought I’d see that from the UK. We love the UK.” Trump added that things were “not like it used to be”, branding the breakdown “very sad.”
The US and Israel launched brutal airstrikes into Tehran on Saturday morning, killing the country’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The assassination sparked chaos throughout the Middle East with Iran firing missiles on Dubai, Jordan, Israel and Qatar.
Starmer refused to support the US-Israel attack in the immediate aftermath but has since allowed the US to use British military bases for “defensive” operations.
Despite Starmer’s slight change of position, Trump’s remained negative about the US-UK relationship. He said: “It’s a different world, actually. It’s just a much different kind of relationship that we’ve had with your country before.”
“It’s very sad to see that the relationship is obviously not what it was. The people of the UK, who I have a great relationship with, who I love, are sorry to hear it also… I don’t get it. But you know what? I just… I wish him a lot of luck.”
Trump was also critical of the UK’s immigration policies, saying: “It’s also not such a recognisable country. I mean, you look at what happened over the last period of time and it’s very different.
“London is a very different place, with a terrible Mayor. You have a terrible Mayor there, some terrible people. But it’s a very different place. Stop people from coming in from foreign lands who hate you.”
Trump then offered advice to Starmer on a number of issues as Labour continues to tank in the polls. He said: “Two very simple things.
“Open up the North Sea. Immediately. Your energy prices are through the roof. And stop people from coming in from foreign lands who hate you. Open up the North Sea and stop people from pouring into his country from faraway lands.”
On the wider war, Mr Trump said: “I can tell you that we’re doing very well… it’s a very dominant power. We are a very dominant power over and above everybody, and we’re doing very well, as you probably noticed.”
