‘Embarrassing’ White House X account compares Iran struggle to scoring tenpin bowling strike
In the latest insensitive White House X post about loss of innocent life in the US, bowling legend Pete Weber was used to illustrate an aircraft dropping a bomb
Donald Trump’s administration has been blasted for another social media post making fun of the war in Iran. Posted from the official White House X account, the 30-second clip likens US drone strikes to bowling champion Pete Weber hitting a strike.
The video then evolves into an animation whereby tenpins are dubbed ‘Iranian regime officials’, before a bowling bowl covered in US stars and stripes ricochets into them. The scene cartoonishly explodes, giving way to a real-life ‘highlight reel’ of American victories in Iran over the last fortnight.
Since the US and Israel began launching airstrikes on Iran on February 28, it has been estimated at least 1,300 innocent civilians have been killed. Trump and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s aim of “decapitating” the corrupt Iranian regime has also resulted in the deaths of seven US soldiers, according to the Pentagon.
It is perhaps unsurprising then, that an image of a whirling Pete Weber hammering the pins has not gone down well.
Underneath the post, the public weren’t shy when giving their feedback on the “embarrassing” social media output.
“Stop trivializing death . Stop treating Americans like f*****’ children. Stop embarrassing us in front of the world,” wrote one disgruntled X user. “We aren’t putting our son’s and daughter’s lives on the line so you can generate cute memes.”
“Videos like this will one day be shown in history classes, detailing the embarrassing AI slop war propaganda shoved down our throats,” someone else chimed.
“Are you trying to appeal to 12-year-olds?” another asked.
Not everyone was so vitriolic, with one X user praising the White House for their mastery of the algorithms.
“Whoever is behind the White House social media accounts needs a raise,” someone wrote. “They’re getting a lot of views, comments, and likes.”
“The White House and Donald Trump’s TikTok accounts have more followers than the Democrats’,” they added.
It’s not the first time the Republicans have been lambasted for their coverage of the conflict in the Middle East.
Last week the White House used a Call Of Duty “killstreak” clip to celebrate the destruction its military is wreaking in Iran.
A few days before that Secretary Pete Hegseth beamed while announcing the enemy were “on toast”.
