TALK OF THE TOWN: Rocker Liam Gallagher faces dropping his Oasis of calm within the Cotswolds

When Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher splashed out £4.2 million on a new pad in the Cotswolds at the end of last year, he was probably hoping for some peace and quiet.

Instead, it appears he has walked into a battle between the daughter of a Russian oligarch and furious locals over her plans to build holiday lets close to his property.

Darina Kogan, the daughter of billionaire Valery Kogan, and her husband Martin Bellamy, submitted plans to Cotswold District Council for eight holiday homes in the grounds of their grade-II listed, 12-bedroom mansion, Bledisloe House.

This provoked 65 letters of objection and the bid was refused in January, despite the planning officer’s recommendation to approve it.

The couple have now submitted another application for a walled garden, but the council believes this is the first part of a bid to push through the ‘holiday resort plan bit by bit’.

A report said the proposal indicates the garden ‘is functionally intended to serve the holiday accommodation units proposed rather than the private domestic enjoyment of Bledisloe House’.

It’s not the first time the couple have tried to build on their land. In 2021 they detailed plans for 24 houses and a village hall. Fuming locals kicked up such a fuss that the idea was dropped before reaching the planning stage.

On Saturday night 50-year-old Darina insisted: ‘We have no intention of building a holiday resort.’

Ryan’s a foxes’ fan

Hollywood actor Ryan Gosling says Britain doesn’t celebrate foxes enough. ‘They are such an inspiration,’ he says.

‘They were hunted and now they have free rein of the city. They’re cool as hell.’

The actor, who has moved with his family to Hampstead, north London, also suggests they appear on merchandise.

‘There should be a mug of a fox leaning against Big Ben with a monocle and a top hat.’

Lola’s stopped going Dutch with Parker

Sad tidings for socialite Lady Lola Bute who, I can reveal, has parted from her Dutch model boyfriend, Parker van Noord

The pair have been together since 2022, but are on ‘a break’, I’m told.

Lola was spotted living the high life at Paris Fashion Week, left, with starry friends including Lily James – while Parker was nowhere to be seen.

Caprice falls for Nigel Farage

American model Caprice Bourret has become the latest big name to join the ever-growing ranks of Nigel Farage’s Reform party supporters.

The 54-year-old has been leaving comments all over the Instagram page of Laila Cunningham, Reform’s candidate for the 2028 London mayoral elections, including an enthusiastic: ‘You will win.’ Caprice, married to millionaire Ty Comfort, last year complained, ‘I don’t recognise this country any more’, citing a rise in anti-Semitism.

Lord Cameron surely didn’t expect to find himself talking politics with Gemma Collins from The Only Way Is Essex when he arrived at Cheltenham’s Royal Box last week – but the unlikely pair hit it off. ‘I love The GC,’ the former Prime Minister told me, adding that he took the reality star’s racing tips – and won. When asked if there might be a Collins-Cameron collaboration, he grinned: ‘Well… she’s a big fan of Kemi Badenoch – as am I.’

Actor Johnny Depp is flogging more artworks at Castle Fine Art gallery – but they’re more GCSE coursework than Picasso. On offer are pop-art graffiti-style collages featuring images of Jesus and scribbled with swear words. The gallery claims the works, entitled Accidents & Underdogs, are the actor’s ‘most layered and technically complex body of work to date’. I guess they have to say that when they cost £3,950 each!
