- A total of two entire pallets containing hundreds of specialised devices were snatched during the journey. The shipment originated in Los Angeles, but the exact location of the raid remains unknown.
- The stolen inventory belonged to a Norwegian company called Ohdoki, which specialises in advanced automated massage technology. The haul included 289 “Pro” units and 330 “Regular” units of their flagship “Handy” devices.
- The total market value of the stolen goods is estimated at $250,000, which is approximately £198,000. The significant loss has left the manufacturers feeling frustrated and deflated.
- The “Handy” is marketed as a high-performance machine designed to modernise personal wellness through automation. Because these are complex electronic gadgets rather than simple toys, they represent a high-value target for resale.
- Ohdoki has filed a formal complaint regarding the missing shipment to initiate a legal and insurance recovery process. Despite the efforts, the company has confirmed that none of the missing kits have been recovered yet.
- The heist underscores the risks involved in long-distance rail transport where cargo sits unattended for long periods. Local authorities are faced with the difficult task of narrowing down where along the vast rail network the brazen bandits struck.
