Woman arrested after ‘100 lifeless cats have been discovered stuffed in her freezer’
WARNING DISTRESSING IMAGES: A woman from the Czech Republic has been nicked after the gruesome discovery in her freezer, while dozens more live cats suffering from malnourishment were found in her home
A woman has been arrested after police found 100 dead cats stuffed into her freezer, with 25 more living in squalid and dangerous conditions inside her tiny apartment.
Cops in the Czech Republic launched an investigation after disturbing footage appeared online, and upon searching the flat found dozens of animals suffering from scabies, malnourishment and a host of agonising infections, according to Czech news outlet BLESK.
100 dead cats were also reportedly discovered in the woman’s freezer, leading to her being detained, according to a police post on X.
“The 49-year-old woman has been charged with three counts of animal cruelty, keeping animals in unsuitable conditions and neglecting to care for an animal” the statement declared.
Tragic photos released by Czech police show the cats living in puddles of their own urine and faeces. Another image appears to show the bodies of countless kittens carefully wrapped in plastic bags and placed into a freezer drawer.
Shockingly, this incident is not the only case of alleged animal abuse to have rocked the Czech Republic in recent weeks, after two people were also arrested for abusing a cat in the same region of the European country.
A Litoměřice police spokesperson reportedly informed local news outlet CTK that one adult and one ‘juvenile’ had been arrested for allegedly filming themselves abusing and killing a cat by placing it in a dryer, before letting a dog chew on its corpse.
If found guilty, the adult could face up to three years in prison, while the ‘juvenile’ could receive around 18 months due to their age.
Despite occurring in the same area of the country and at similar times, there is not believed to be any connection between the two alleged crimes.
