Tyson Fury splashes out on St Patrick’s Day pints weeks out from comeback battle
Tyson Fury treated everyone in a bar to a pint of Guinness on St Patrick’s Day while preparing for his comeback fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11
Tyson Fury has celebrated St Patrick’s Day by treating everyone in a pub to a pint of Guinness. The Gypsy King is set to face Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 11 in his first contest since losing to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024.
The 37-year-old took a break from his comeback training to treat the punters in a pub during St Patrick’s Day on Tuesday (March 17). In footage shared by Ring Magazine, Fury can be seen surrounded by drinkers as he speaks to them through a microphone over the tannoy system.
Chants of “There’s only one Tyson Fury” ring out as cheers erupt when he declares he’ll be purchasing them pints of Dublin-brewed Guinness. He announced: “Happy St Patrick’s Day. I’d just like to announce that I’d like to pay for everyone in here for a pint of Guinness.”
Less than four weeks remain until Fury returns to the ring following more than 12 months away from the squared circle. The Gypsy King shocked supporters and boxing enthusiasts worldwide when he revealed he would be retiring after his second loss to Usyk in their rematch.
The heavyweight insisted he was mounting his comeback to make the sport “great again” after claiming boxing had become tedious.
He said: “I came back for one reason only: To make boxing great again. Since I stopped boxing a year ago, boxing for me has gone on a downward slope. It’s become quite boring.

“Boxing is at his maximum potential when Tyson Fury’s actively fighting. I didn’t say that, AI, Chat GPT [did]. So believe it.
“With me, I brought the biggest streaming platform on earth, Netflix. First fight back, fighting at a 60,000-seat stadium. I bring a circus, entertainment, action, cameras, everything to the sport.
“I was enjoying being retired. Made ‘At Home with the Furys’ Season 2, made a documentary, travelled the world with my family, a few private jets, yachts … I was enjoying myself.
“But it comes to a point where you just want to go back to work. My work will always be the fight game, no matter how old I am.”
Fury, who has revealed he’ll be coaching himself with no trainer in his corner, is set to take on Makhmudov.
The Russian fighter, now residing in Canada, has secured victory in 21 of his 23 professional bouts, with 19 achieved through knockouts.
This presents a fresh challenge for Fury as he squares off against the 36-year-old, who measures 6ft. 5in.
British boxing enthusiasts will recognise Makhumdov after his points victory over Dave Allen in Sheffield last year.
One of his losses occurred three years ago when current WBC interim champion Agit Kabayel defeated him with a fourth round knockout.
The clash will be broadcast live on Netflix on April 11.
