Donald Trump’s damning four-word abstract of Middle East conflict comes proper again to chew him
Donald Trump called going into the Middle East the ‘worst decision ever made’ in 2019, but his current Iran war has seen MAGA allies turn against him and his approval rating plummet
As Donald Trump presses on with his war in Iran — with numerous MAGA allies turning their backs on him because of it — it’s worth remembering that he was previously a staunch critic of US military involvement in the Middle East.
Back in 2019, during his first term in office, Trump posted on social media that America’s choice to enter the Middle East was the “worst decision ever made.
“The United States has spent EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS fighting and policing in the Middle East,” Trump wrote on X at the time, “Thousands of our Great Soldiers have died or been badly wounded. Millions of people have died on the other side. GOING INTO THE MIDDLE EAST IS THE WORST DECISION EVER MADE…..” It follows Trump making a disturbing sexual remark on stage that left an alarmed audience stunned into silence.
Republican representative Thomas Massie, who opposes the conflict, added a 100 emoji in response to the post in March this year, while another user wrote, “How’s this working out for you, Don?

“Where did this version of President Trump go?” journalist Christine Niles added, reports the Mirror US.
Prior to entering the war this year, Trump had consistently strived to portray himself as the anti-war president, repeatedly boasting that he had brought an end to “eight wars” and making a great deal of pursuing the Nobel Peace Prize. Now, his campaign in Iran, combined with the soaring cost of living across the US, has seen the president’s approval ratings plummet dramatically over the past week.
According to fresh polling data from YouGov and The Economist, Trump’s approval rating has dropped by 4 percentage points since just before the US hit Iran, nosediving from 39 percent in late February to 35 percent.
Since hostilities commenced on February 28, Trump’s messaging has become increasingly muddled. He recently claimed that negotiations in Iran were ongoing, despite Iranian officials insisting they had not been involved in any such discussions.
On Saturday evening, Iran’s joint military command chief warned that his nation would target all infrastructure utilised by US forces throughout the region, along with Israel’s infrastructure, should aggression towards Iran continue to intensify.
Gen. Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi’s comments on Saturday evening were broadcast by state media, emerging just hours after Trump warned Tehran to open the Strait of Hormuz or face devastating consequences.
“Time is running out – 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them,” Trump proclaimed via social media, reaffirming a previous April 6 deadline for reopening the vital shipping channel.
