TalkSPORT legend’s drastic transformation after associates feared he died
Alan Brazil’s noticeable weight loss left talkSPORT fans stunned, as the radio legend returned to the airwaves after a two-week absence due to an ear infection
Alan Brazil stunned fans with dramatic weight loss on talkSPORT. The beloved radio host and former footballer was broadcasting alongside Ally McCoist and Katie Shanahan to debate Kieran McKenna’s potential move to the Bournemouth role.
The trio were analysing whether the ex-Manchester United coach would make the switch to the Cherries. Yet supporters shelved the football chat to comment on how transformed the presenter appeared.
One viewer posted: “Jesus what diet has Alan been on? He looks like he’s lost loads of weight. Hope he’s OK.” Another quipped: “Brazil is losing a lot of weight, he might have to change his name to Alan Paraguay.”
A third commented: “Alan looks the healthiest I’ve seen him,” while a fourth remarked: “Only just noticed how much weight Alan Brazil [has lost], wowzer.”, reports the Mirror.
Contrasted with a talkSPORT YouTube clip from January 2025, Brazil’s face appears noticeably thinner. While supporters ponder how the former Scotland international shed the weight, he revealed earlier in 2026 that some of his mates believed he had passed away due to his marked absence from the radio programme.
The 66 year old was compelled to take a fortnight off from talkSPORT in February owing to an ear infection that made him feel he was on the verge of collapsing. Following his comeback, the Glaswegian declared: “The big news this morning is I’m alive and kicking.
“I’ve never had so many texts and emails asking, ‘Are you all right? Are you dead? Are you dying?’ Give us a break. Honestly. It was my ears. I had a big infection in my right ear, and my left ear was blocked. I was sat here thinking I was going to fall off my chair.
“It’s the worst I have been, terrible. These lights (in the studio) don’t help. I have said to them to turn the lights down but do they listen? It’s stupid.”
This wasn’t the first occasion Brazil had been missing from his talkSPORT duties after being dismissed in 2004 for disappearing at the Cheltenham Races. The former Manchester United striker became infamous for his drinking exploits both as a player and a pundit, but he recently confessed life has calmed down in his advancing years.
During a chat with close mate and fellow talkSPORT personality McCoist, Brazil revealed he is more “bored” than anything with existence. He said: “I’m bored now, I hardly go out anymore, I don’t go to the pub.
“I’m sitting there watching movies and some of them are murder. I’ve been watching some horse racing, catching up on Dublin ahead of the Cheltenham Festival.”
