TV presenter points pressing ‘get me out’ plea after getting caught in practice bathroom

A tv presenter got stuck in the toilet on a train – and had to beg fellow passengers to let him out. Bargain Hunt star Charles Hanson was unable to get out of the loo on the London-bound rattler due to a sealant issue with the sliding doors.

He took to social media to beg any fellow passengers to let him out. In a video posted on X, he was even seen knocking on the inside of the door and shouted: “If you’re waiting for the toilet, can you open the door?”

The auctioneer asked followers if they could hep let him out, saying in a video: “Tonight, I’m on the delayed 17.46 train to London but I’m locked in the loo. If anyone is on the train, I’d be grateful. For some reason, when I press these buttons, nothing’s happening.

“Anyway, hopefully I’ll be ok. Have a lovely weekend wherever you are. I’m on a train just approaching Leicester, heading south. Have a great weekend and hopefully I’ll be out… It could be a long journey.”

One wag quipped: “The buttons have a smell sensor. Once the stench of your number 2 has gone, the doors will open. It’s a protection mechanism for other passengers.”

But other social media users flooded East Midlands Railway to alert them to the issue. The train operator said on X they had contacted the train manager on board and asked for them to take a look and set him free.

The post was widely shared by social media, many of whom found it hilarious. One wrote: “Social media is wild. He is stuck in a London train and me in Nigeria might be aware before the driver of that same train.. wow, the world is really in our hands right now.”

Even former MP Edwina Currie was hooked on the rescue mission, tweeting Charles to ask if he had made it out alive.

Another joker asked East Mids Railway if rumours Charles was freed were true, querying: “Have you verified that Paul isn’t Charles’ sworn enemy trying to keep him locked in the loo for longer before you give up on the freedom mission?”

They replied: “We have confirmed that he is no longer locked in the toilet, luckily.”

Charles later posted another video confirming he was out safe, telling fans: “I’m out the loo. There was a sealant issue down below. I’m out the loo, so fear not.

“I’m on my way south. I’m on my way to a charity auction to an amazing hospice cause. My gavels in my pockets, all my possessions are all there.

“So from me, I’m on my way down to London for an amazing weekend, but just be careful – these sliding doors can often cause a bit of trouble. So beware.”
