Cornwall vacation park ‘knife assault’ as armed police swarm in main manhunt
Devon and Cornwall Police dispatched armed officers to a popular holiday park in Cornwall after a woman was taken to hospital after reports of an alleged knife that sparked a manhunt on the site
A major manhunt was sparked as armed police swarmed a popular Cornwall holiday park after a woman was allegedly attacked by a man wielding a knife.
Officers were called to a report of an assault at a holiday park near Looe at around 12.25pm on Friday (April 17).
A woman was taken to hospital with knife wounds but was treated and discharged later that day, reports CornwallLive.
After a manhunt at the holiday park and in the Southway area of Plymouth, a 43-year-old man from the Plymouth area was arrested yesterday (Saturday, April 18) by police on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The man has been released on bail as police are make further enquiries with regards to the incident at the holiday park.
Devon and Cornwall Police issued a statement on the incident at the holiday park. It read: “Officers were called to a report of an assault at a holiday park near Looe at around 12.25pm on Friday 17 April.
“It was reported that a woman had sustained knife wounds. She was treated in hospital and was discharged later that day.
“The suspect left the scene and was believed to possibly have a weapon. Officers, including armed officers, carried out enquiries in the area and in the Southway area of Plymouth to locate the suspect.
“Following these enquiries, a 43-year-old man from Plymouth was arrested on Saturday 18 April, on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He has been released on bail, pending further enquiries.”
